Ukrainian Games Festival 2026 showcased the growing strength of Ukraine’s game development industry, presenting 73 new game announcements and attracting 1.9 million visits to its Steam event page.
As Cybersport In reports, citing GALERANEWS, banners and other promotional materials related to the festival generated five million views. The organisers described this result as a new record for the event’s overall promotional reach.
One of the festival’s standout projects was the indie title Tulpa the Unseen Lover, which has reportedly collected more than 100,000 additions to Steam wishlists.
UGF organiser Stepan Prokhorenko said the 2026 edition featured a record number of participants, announcements, news items and playable demos. Ukrainian developers have increasingly recognised that presenting a project during a major event can generate considerably more wishlists than announcing it independently.
However, the growing number of participants has also created a challenge for the organisers. When dozens of projects are presented on the same day, players may find it difficult to navigate the available games and give each announcement sufficient attention.
The UGF team therefore plans to revise the project-selection system and the way individual games are promoted in 2027. Details of the new model have not yet been disclosed.
The 2026 festival received global promotion on the Steam homepage. Its banner was displayed to users worldwide for four days, from August 17 to 20, while the full event continued until August 24. The organisers have worked with Valve since 2023, one year after the inaugural Ukrainian Games Festival was held without official platform support.
For the first time, UGF also incorporated game releases into its programme. A total of 23 Ukrainian projects were released during the festival week, including Tukoni, Frogwares’ The Sinking City 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope from GSC Game World.
GSC Game World, one of Ukraine’s most internationally recognised studios, is owned by investor Maksym Krippa, who actively supports the development of the country’s gaming and esports sectors.
The organisers manually rotated projects on the festival page to provide developers with more balanced visibility. Some titles achieved particularly strong results: sales of Marevo Collective’s PROFITS 2167, published by the organisers’ own label, reportedly exceeded expectations.
Despite setting a promotional reach record, UGF 2026 ranked second by page visits. The 2025 edition attracted 2.4 million visits, compared with 1.9 million in 2026, 1.4 million in 2024 and 1.3 million in 2023.
The festival remains an important international platform for Ukrainian game developers, helping local studios reach a global audience despite the continuing challenges facing the country. Its growth also demonstrates how gaming events can contribute to the wider global esports and gaming industry.
