The EWC 2026 CS2 playoffs continue on August 20 with the remaining four Round of 16 series and the tournament’s first quarter-final. NAVI and B8 will both be fighting to keep their runs alive, while Ukrainian AWPer Artem «r1nkle» Moroz and G2 are already one victory away from the semi-finals.
There is no lower bracket to fall back on at this stage. The EWC playoffs use a single-elimination format, with the Round of 16 and quarter-final matches played as best-of-three series.
NAVI face Legacy
NAVI begin their playoff campaign against Legacy. The European roster enters the series ranked sixth in the world by HLTV, with Valeriy «b1t» Vakhovskiy and Ihor «w0nderful» Zhdanov representing Ukraine in the lineup.
NAVI have already experienced a difficult test at EWC 2026, beating The MongolZ 2-1 during the group stage. Legacy secured their own playoff spot after a 2-0 victory over MIBR, having previously lost 0-2 to FaZe.
The single-elimination bracket now leaves both teams with a straightforward equation: win the series and reach the last eight, or see their EWC campaign end.
Falcons take on defending champions The MongolZ
Falcons and The MongolZ will play simultaneously in the other early Round of 16 series.
The Mongolian side entered this year’s event as defending Esports World Cup champions. Their 2026 campaign has already included a 2-0 win over paiN and a 1-2 defeat to NAVI, while Falcons opened their group-stage run by beating Astralis 2-0.
With both teams accustomed to deep runs at international LAN events, the matchup is one of the more difficult Round of 16 series to call.
B8 draw Spirit after beating Vitality
Ukraine’s B8 face arguably their biggest test of the event against Spirit.
B8 have already produced one notable result at EWC 2026 CS2, beating Vitality 2-1 during the group stage. The roster remains entirely Ukrainian, featuring npl, s1zzi, kensizor, esenthial and alex666.
Spirit arrive with victories over Luminosity and BIG behind them. Their recent LAN record also includes a semi-final appearance at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 and a runner-up finish at the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals earlier this month.
The individual numbers underline the scale of B8’s task. HLTV’s three-month form comparison for the matchup has Spirit’s leading player at a 1.41 rating, while npl sits at 1.11.
A victory would send B8 into the final eight and add another high-profile result to a tournament run that has already included their win over Vitality.
FaZe and Vitality meet in elimination series
FaZe and Vitality complete the Round of 16 schedule.
FaZe already defeated Legacy 2-0 during the group stage, while Vitality recorded a 2-0 victory over Lynn Vision before falling 1-2 to B8.
Both organizations entered the event with expectations of challenging deep into the bracket, but one of them will now leave before the quarter-finals.
G2 and FURIA play the first quarter-final
The day’s final series will see G2 face FURIA in the first EWC 2026 quarter-final.
G2 advanced past Astralis in the opening playoff round, while FURIA eliminated Aurora. The matchup also keeps Ukrainian representation in focus, with r1nkle holding the AWP for G2.
FURIA enter the series after a strong run of international results. The Brazilian team finished second at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 and closed 2025 with titles including IEM Chengdu and BLAST Rivals Season 2.
The winner will advance to the semi-finals on August 22. The EWC 2026 CS2 grand final is scheduled for August 23 and will be played as a best-of-five.
Thursday’s schedule is NAVI vs Legacy and Falcons vs The MongolZ at 13:00, followed by FaZe vs Vitality and B8 vs Spirit at 15:55. G2 vs FURIA closes the day at 18:50 with a semi-final spot at stake.
For the Ukrainian scene, the day could significantly reshape the final EWC bracket. NAVI and B8 must survive elimination matches to reach the last eight, while r1nkle and G2 are already within one series of the semi-finals.
