This gamer, who goes by the handle JustikShow, possesses a long-established account dating back 15 years, filled with hours of gameplay and numerous Platinum Trophies. However, after moving from Eastern Europe to Germany, they found themselves unable to seamlessly access their account or purchase new games due to the region restrictions imposed by Sony.
Region locking, a practice that has been around in various forms for consoles, prevents players from utilizing their original accounts when they relocate. JustikShow explained that accessing their prior account now requires navigating complex workarounds, which can be quite cumbersome for players used to having their gaming history and achievements carried over without issue.
Many gamers echoed JustikShow’s concerns, noting that while account histories remain an integral part of the gaming experience on platforms like Xbox and PlayStation, the inability to modify account regions can significantly hinder user experience.
