Reasons Behind the Removal of Tung Tung Tung Sahur from Steal a Brainrot

A popular character from Steal a Brainrot, known as Tung Tung Tung Sahur, has been discreetly taken out of the game, leading to dissatisfaction among fans.

Steal a Brainrot is currently achieving record-breaking player numbers, exceeding 20 million concurrent users, and rivaling games like Fortnite and Roblox. The game features a variety of Italian Brainrot characters and allows players to capture them while earning money to acquire rarer characters for their collections.

Why was Tung Tung Tung Sahur removed from Steal a Brainrot?

Brainrots are everywhere.

The removal of Tung Tung Tung Sahur from Roblox’s Steal a Brainrot is attributed to an issue of intellectual property infringement involving Noxa, an Indonesian TikTok creator who originally showcased the character. Mementum Lab, Noxa’s intellectual property management agency, stated regarding the character’s removal that they had not explicitly requested the developer of Steal a Brainrot to eliminate Tung Tung Tung Sahur.

In their statement, Mementum Lab mentioned that while they had contacted Sammy, the game’s developer, about the character, he requested them to consult his lawyer before the character was removed. They asserted, «Steal a Brainrot is generating significant revenue using Noxa’s creative input, for which we have invested both time and resources.» Mementum Lab expressed willingness to discuss terms that would allow players to engage with the character once again.

Currently, Noxa’s agency believes the situation is «unjust» for its partners, who have legitimately secured the license. Even though copyrighting AI-generated content is still a grey area in legal terms, Mementum Lab posits that true authorship is rooted in the prompt and creative direction behind the content.

Other Roblox games, such as Brainrot Evolution and others, have also opted to remove Tung Tung Tung Sahur in anticipation of potential legal repercussions from the agency.

Will Tung Tung Tung Sahur return to Steal a Brainrot?

Tung Tung looks a bit different now.

It seems unlikely for Tung Tung Tung Sahur to make a comeback in Steal a Brainrot, although a new character named Te Te Te Sahur is now featured in the game. In contrast to Tung Sahur, who was portrayed with a blank expression and wielding a baseball bat, Te Sahur is represented as a kettle but retains a similar brown color.

In addition to Tung Tung Tung Sahur, Noxa maintains rights to numerous other characters in the Brainrot franchise, such as Brr Es Teh Patipum and Garamararam, suggesting that the agency might seek to negotiate regarding these characters in the future.

The popularity of Steal a Brainrot in both Fortnite and Roblox can be largely attributed to its memorable characters. Should the agency pursue more agreements or exert pressure on developers to remove these characters, it could significantly impact the game’s overall appeal.
