Riot Revisits Classic Aesthetics with New Summoner’s Cup Design for Worlds 2025

Riot Games is revisiting its origins with an exciting update for the cherished Summoner’s Cup, reintroducing the trophy with a lighter and classic design that fans will love.

In contrast to last year’s sleek and sharply designed trophy from the League of Legends World Championship, the developer is restoring the sentimental design that fans have adored over the years, featuring its original shape. Additionally, the trophy’s weight has been halved compared to the prior version.

The developer mentioned that the lighter weight makes it «safer and easier to lift on the world stage,» indicating their response to last year’s feedback concerning the heftier trophy, which resulted in an incident where Zeus accidentally injured himself during the ceremony. This memorable moment has now been included in T1’s Worlds 2024 Zeus skin as a recall animation.

This year’s Summoner’s Cup will showcase a newly designed seven-inch base, engraved with the names of all 14 previous Worlds champions. The trophy’s craftsmanship is in the hands of Volpin Props, reflecting top-tier artistry for the League’s most significant award. The trophy will be delivered to the stadium by Riot’s official automotive partner, Mercedes-Benz.

The League of Legends esports scene celebrates its 15th anniversary with the Worlds 2025 event, which aims to surpass last year’s viewership records. The grand finals will feature renowned talents like pop superstar G.E.M and acclaimed EDM artist Anyma, among others, providing an electrifying prelude to the climactic battles for ultimate glory.

The journey to Worlds 2025 starts on October 14 in Beijing, moving through Shanghai, and culminating in Chengdu for the finals.
