The Putrified Ducts is one of the more challenging locations that can be reached only via a specific path in Hollow Knight: Silksong. This route is not easily visible, as Hornet needs to eliminate an obstruction to uncover it. Although the journey may take some time, there are numerous points of interest in the Putrified Ducts that will make the adventure worthwhile.
How To Access The Putrified Ducts In Silksong
The entry to the Putrified Ducts is primarily found in the Memorium area in HK Silksong. While you can access the lower section from Bilewater, the remainder of the area is not reachable via this route. In the small lower section, players can engage in the Broodfeast quest and obtain the Key of Apostate.
To get started, players should head north from the Grand Bellway, proceeding all the way to the top. Then, utilize the double jump ability, which is essential, to ascend the platform and enter the area.
Within the Memorium, jump onto the platform that has the lore board, and then leap to the platform directly above it. Hornet will reach the second level of this region, where the path will diverge.
Proceed to the right to enter a zone filled with various enemies. Engage with the smaller and larger spiders, then continue running until you encounter a mini-boss towards the end of the path. You can choose to defeat this enemy or bypass it entirely to quickly pass through the door. Carefully descend the platforms while avoiding the rolling enemies to reach the bottom.
Enter the door to the right, marked by a hanging sign, to find a seemingly vacant room. Venture further inside and look up to discover a narrow tunnel. Use a double jump and employ the Clawline technique to ascend, and then move forward to land on a bridge.
At the end of the bridge, there is a tall wall that can be climbed. Use a combination of skills, such as cling grip and double jump, to scale it. There is an obstacle made of rocks between the two walls that can be smashed. Carefully stick Hornet to the wall and attempt to break the rocks to reveal a hidden path.
Move to the right and enter the dim tunnel. Navigate carefully past the spikes, and eventually, you will find yourself in the Putrified Ducts area. This location bears a resemblance to Bilewater, especially with its swamp filled with maggots that reduces Hornet’s silk. Fortunately, there is an item available that can protect you from the detrimental effects of the water for a limited time. Additionally, an NPC present in this area can assist in identifying hidden fleas that may have been overlooked during your exploration of Pharloom.
