Unlocking All Gifts of the Nine in Destiny Rising

Upon arriving at the Citadel in Silksong, players will experience a progression system that diverges from the linearity found in Act 1. If you manage to reach the upper right section of the Choral Chambers, you will unlock a new area within the Citadel, where the beloved pilgrim Sherma will eventually make an appearance.

Sherma’s visit is brief; after players explore the Whiteward and return to Songclave, they will find that Sherma has gone below to retrieve medical supplies for his fellow pilgrims, initiating a new quest to locate him.

This guide provides details on how to complete the Balm for the Wounded quest in Silksong, outlining where to find Sherma and the rewards for rescuing this charming little bug from the dangers of the Whiteward.

How to Begin the Balm for the Wounded Quest in Silksong

To activate the Balm for the Wounded quest, players must first unlock Songclave by ringing the Grand Bell located in the top-right corner of the Choral Chambers. Upon returning to this area later, players will find it transformed into a Town hub, complete with a new Wishwall.

Next, collect the White Key situated to the right of the Grand Bell and proceed to unlock and explore the Whiteward area.

Once you head back to Songclave, Sherma should be among the pilgrims. Speak with Sherma, then leave and re-enter to find him gone. To initiate the Balm for the Wounded quest, check the Wishwall and then return to the Whiteward to rescue Sherma.

Locating and Rescuing Sherma in Silksong

Enter Whiteward through the Choral Chambers and rest at the bench in the right corner of the first room to save your progress. Jump down the shaft, taking the first exit on the right rather than proceeding all the way down. Follow the path right, then drop down the hole to land on top of an object that can be tracked.

Interact with this object to begin tracking Sherma, following the trail through the Whiteward.

  1. The trail leads Hornet to the right through a room populated by large, masked foes wielding scissors.
  2. Next, track the second object located on a platform between spikes in this elongated room. This will guide Hornet further right. Evade the enemies while following the trail upward.
  3. The path will lead to a room that Hornet can access. Go inside and destroy the breakable wall on the right to reveal Sherma’s location within the Whiteward.

Once you locate Sherma, he will express his fear, having witnessed the brutal and challenging scenarios of the Whiteward. Sherma reveals that he found healing supplies but became trapped and started hearing unsettling sounds in the dark.

Following this, a series of tough enemies will attack in waves.

  • Eliminate three flying enemies that use tentacle-like silk strands with Hornet’s own Silk Skills and Tools, as they can be tricky to approach for hits with the Needle.
  • Defeat two scissor-wielding opponents using pogo attacks (downward strikes while in mid-air), while avoiding their rapid and powerful two-mask damage-dealing attacks.

Rewards for Completing the Balm for the Wounded Quest

After successfully taking down the waves of enemies, you will have rescued Sherma. He will then return to Songclave but not without giving Hornet an item he discovered during his search for supplies.

As a reward for saving Sherma from the horrors of the Whiteward, Hornet will receive a Spool Fragment. By collecting two Spool Fragments, Hornet can increase her maximum Silk capacity by one bar.
