Wuchang: Fallen Feathers presents numerous challenges as players strive to survive and reach the next shrine. Beyond dealing significant damage, various enemies, or even elements of the environment, can apply debilitating status effects to Wuchang, which can be just as lethal as any boss encounter.
While some status conditions may be particularly troublesome, they all have remedies available to alleviate their effects. Here’s a comprehensive overview of each status ailment, what happens when they accumulate, and how to heal from them swiftly.
Understanding Status Ailments in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Status effects can originate from environmental hazards or enemy attacks and spells. You can identify which status ailment is affecting you by observing the color and emblem of the icon displayed above Wuchang’s head.

Your damage output is reduced temporarily. |

If you refrain from adding to any status ailment, the icon will gradually decrease by itself over time, allowing recovery as long as you can survive.

While you can equip a maximum of four items on your hotbar, you can also access your inventory at any time to utilize any items you possess. Since the game doesn’t pause when opening the menu, it’s advisable to always have at least one of these items ready in your hotbar according to the conditions of the area. Generally, most locations feature enemies or environmental influences that inflict the same type of status ailment. Many of these items can be purchased from merchants, so it’s wise to keep a stock for emergencies.
Elemental Resistances
Each armor piece has inherent elemental resistances, thus reducing the chances of various status ailments affecting you. Additionally, there are consumable items that can temporarily lower the potential build-up of a status ailment on Wuchang, although these do not influence any existing build-up.
