Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a game that demands a high level of skill, and while players can reach the game’s conclusion through their abilities alone, gaining experience points (XP) will significantly ease their journey. In this Soulslike adventure, the primary XP and currency is known as Red Mercury Essence, which players will need in abundance.
If you find yourself struggling in challenging battles or in need of currency for purchasing items, farming Red Mercury Essence is a viable option. This guide highlights two excellent spots for XP farming in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers that can be accessed early in the game.
Top Early Farming Location for Red Essence in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The optimal farming location you’ll want to seek out early on is the Lightzen Temple. This area is the first to feature a concentration of enemies, making it ideal for XP farming due to the presence of densely clustered foes that are easy to defeat repeatedly.
By eliminating all the bandits and a pair of zombies located in the courtyard of Lightzen Temple, players can collect approximately ~900 Red Mercury Essence. Depending on your character’s strength, you should be able to achieve this within a few minutes. Furthermore, enemies here may drop Red Mercury Sprouts, each of which yields 100 Red Mercury. On top of that, smaller enemies might drop Flying Daggers, which can be saved or sold later.
Ensure you engage all the enemies throughout the Lightzen Temple. Two additional foes are concealed in a house near the campfire area, and there’s a fake monk lurking inside a house close to the temple’s exit.
Alternative Farming Spot
If you want to advance your skills early in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, consider farming the foes near Shu Sanctum. Continue through until you unlock the shortcut that connects to the other side of the stream. Once you do, engage the enemies in the adjacent village to gather plenty of Red Mercury Essence.
In this area, it’s crucial to track down all four ogre-like enemies scattered throughout the village:
- Afirst is located atop cliffside scaffolding leading towards the village.
- The second can be found beneath the first, hiding inside a house.
- The third resides in a secluded area surrounded by bamboo stalks.
- The last is situated in the village, near a fire-dancing bird demon that drops a strong early-game spell.
These enemies provide 270 Red Mercury Essence each when defeated. However, they can deal significant damage (particularly the one in the village), so approach with caution during combat.
This particular location is likely to yield more Essence per run; however, due to its larger size and greater number of enemies, expect it to take longer to complete. You can wrap up your farming runs by retracing your steps back to Shu Temple or using the path that leads back to Reverent Temple.
