T1 has ended one of the most remarkable winning streaks in recent League of Legends history, defeating Gen.G 2-1 in an exciting match, which concluded their impressive 27-game unbeaten run.
Following their participation in the Esports World Cup 2025, T1 returned to South Korea for the third round of the League Champions Korea (LCK), where they faced off against Gen.G.
Gen.G had faced some defeats in the LCK Cup 2025, but bounced back, going on an undefeated streak after regaining their momentum. The match seemed to be in their favor initially when T1 lost the first game. Canyon’s Wukong executed a stunning performance, accumulating 12 kills and leading Gen.G to what appeared to be an effortless victory. However, T1 shocked everyone by making a comeback.
In the second game, T1’s bottom lane utilized the potent Xayah and Rakan combination, while Faker opted for his recognized Azir to help the team take control from Gen.G. In the final match, switching to the red side proved advantageous for T1 as the bottom lane showcased their powerful 2022 Aphelios-Thresh duo. They set the pace from the onset, overpowering Gen.G and decisively concluding the match, handing Gen.G their first loss of the season.
Keria was named the series MVP, delivering an impressive 38 assists that underscored his effectiveness with engage supports like Rakan and Thresh. His impactful plays were crucial in guiding T1 to their victory.
With this triumph, T1 not only secured an important win but also put an end to Gen.G’s remarkable 27-match win streak. Nevertheless, Gen.G still holds the record for the longest win streak in LCK history, achieving 29 consecutive wins in 2024 across both the Spring and Summer Split. T1, however, made history as the first team to complete a flawless split in 2022.
T1’s star ADC, Gumayusi, expressed a strong desire for «revenge» after recent defeats, indicating their motivation going forward.
T1 needs to sustain their performance throughout the remainder of the year as they aim for the two remaining titles, including the upcoming Worlds 2025, where they aspire to be the first team in League history to win three consecutive World Championships.
As for Gen.G, they have secured a spot at Worlds 2025 thanks to their last victory in the LCK, but maintaining their current form will be essential if they aim to capture the year’s most prestigious international title.
