Wuchang: Fallen Feathers features a range of terminology that players should familiarize themselves with to optimize their builds. Benedictions provide various buffs, contingent on executing the correct actions during combat.

A key term that players will encounter frequently in relation to benedictions–but isn’t explained in the early game tutorials–is Obliterate Attacks. These devastating moves can be utilized effectively against both common foes and bosses. Here’s a guide on how to charge and execute obliterate attacks against any adversary.

Understanding Obliterate Attacks in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Obliterate Attacks can be executed when an enemy is brought to their knees, allowing your character to launch a strong stab attack on the downed foe. During battles with various enemies, players will notice a small white circle gradually filling up as they continue dealing damage. Once this circle is completely filled, the enemy will be knocked down and vulnerable to an Obliterate attack, which is indicated by a slash icon that turns red when you approach.

It’s important to act quickly; despite the enemy being downed, you’ll have only a few seconds to reach them and position yourself directly behind or in front of them to cause the icon to turn red, thereby successfully triggering the Obliterate attack.

Executing Obliteration Against Enemies in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Successfully performing an obliteration requires precise timing, as enemies can recover from any accumulation of the Obliterate meter if not attacked within approximately fifteen seconds. Failing to strike within this timeframe will result in the enemy fully recuperating from the accumulated Obliterate buildup, regardless of its progress. This is also true for boss battles, where an Obliterate can generally only be achieved once per encounter.

Regardless of the adversary you are facing, simply landing a swift attack is sufficient to maintain the Obliterate meter at full capacity. This necessitates an aggressive playstyle that prevents any slack against your opponent. Once you obliterate an enemy, they will be launched forward, needing time to stand again before they can resume fighting. During this recovery period, they are vulnerable to further attacks, allowing you to inflict additional damage or heal safely.

You can also trigger an Obliterate attack on smaller or medium-sized enemies by stealthily approaching them and landing a charged heavy attack on their back. This will immediately fill their obliterate meter, setting you up perfectly to execute the attack before they can recover. Note that this stealth tactic won’t work on bosses but is effective against tougher regular enemies.
