Understanding the Mechanics of LoL’s Mythic Shop

The Mythic Shop gives players the opportunity to purchase a select range of Prestige skins, Hextech variants, icons, emotes, and keys that cannot be bought through the regular League shop for various reasons.

Introduced at the beginning of the 2022 season, Riot launched a new currency: Mythic Essence. This exclusive currency, obtainable via purchasing Hextech Chests, leveling up event passes, or through rare drops in crafting, replaced the prior Gemstone currency, allowing players more avenues to acquire rare cosmetic items. Mythic Essence is specifically used in the Mythic Shop, which can be accessed through the Mythic Essence in a player’s inventory.

In 2025, Riot has established different windows for acquiring rare cosmetics, allowing players to plan ahead before items rotate out of the shop.
