Sons of the Forest is an engaging survival game where players find themselves stranded on an enigmatic island while searching for a missing CEO. As they navigate this perilous environment, players can gather a variety of items to create tools essential for their survival.
Similar to many survival titles, Sons of the Forest supports multiplayer gameplay. With numerous threats lurking on the island, teaming up with friends can be advantageous. Collaborating not only enhances the gaming experience but significantly boosts survival chances. However, there is a cap on the number of participants in each session. Below, we will discuss how the multiplayer feature operates in Sons of the Forest and the maximum player capacity.
Maximum Player Capacity in Multiplayer
In a single game, you can include up to 8 players, allowing for a group of you and seven friends to collaborate in Sons of the Forest. This player limit is notably larger compared to many other survival games. The minimum requirement for multiplayer is two players, so as long as you’re accompanied by one friend, you’re set.
Understanding Multiplayer in Sons of the Forest
To play SOTF with friends, navigate to the main menu and select ‘Multiplayer.’ Here, you will find two options: you can either host a game or join another player’s session. To host, select ‘Host’ and then click on ‘New Game.’ You will then have the opportunity to configure your server settings, such as naming your game and determining the number of participants allowed.
If you prefer to join a server, simply click on ‘Join’ and look for the server you’d like to enter. Upon joining, the game will initiate with the helicopter crash scene, mirroring the solo gameplay experience.
A major perk of playing Sons of the Forest in co-op mode is that the game adjusts loot drops based on the total number of players in your group. For instance, if you’re playing alongside five friends, the game will provide sufficient resources for all. However, it’s important to note that increased player counts also attract more cannibals to confront. The host has the ability to select the game’s difficulty level during the setup. Additionally, players will encounter characters like Kelvin and Virginia in multiplayer, just as in the single-player mode.
