If you’ve been having difficulty getting the notorious Scoutmaster to appear during your time in PEAK, we’re here to provide insights and ready you for the encounter that awaits.
Understanding the Challenge of PEAK
The indie sensation crafted by Aggro Crab and Landfall transcends the typical climbing game; it is a comprehensive survival adventure. As you ascend toward the hard-to-reach «peak» and navigate the island’s diverse landscapes, you will face an array of menacing creatures and challenges, all designed to hinder your escape. While many foes are manageable, the Scoutmaster stands apart–an entity best avoided unless you’re specifically looking for a significant challenge.
Rewards Await
The upside? If you manage to encounter the Scoutmaster in PEAK, there are valuable rewards in store for you. Here are the steps to summon this formidable foe and a guide to overcoming it.
How to Summon the Scoutmaster in PEAK
The Scoutmaster only appears in PEAK if certain conditions are met, which include:
- Straying far from your teammates
- Utilizing the Scoutmaster’s Bugle
For the first method, you must break the conventional rule by significantly distancing yourself from your companions. It’s advisable to be positioned well above the next highest player in your group; thus, it would be best to ask your teammates to remain at the lower sections while you execute this plan.
The Scoutmaster can spawn at any location and moment during your ascent. It is generally easier to confront it on level terrain. Aim to reach the Campfire (Temple) in an area quickly to avert an encounter with the Scoutmaster near cliffs. If it is not visible at the campfire, wait for a while for it to spawn.
If you’re the final player standing from your team and have reached the campsite, it’s crucial to wait. Do not summon your fallen teammates from the Altar, or else the Scoutmaster won’t show up.
If you happen to possess the rare Scoutmaster’s Bugle, you can call the creature to appear at will. This is also the sole method to summon the Scoutmaster in PEAK’s solo or offline mode. Playing the Bugle enhances your stamina, which is essential for eluding the Scoutmaster.
Rewards and Achievements from the Scoutmaster in PEAK
Now that you understand how to encounter the Scoutmaster in PEAK, it’s time to examine the rewards available for accepting this perilous endeavor.
What follows might sound reckless, but allow the Scoutmaster to catch you, lift you up, and throw you down at least once. Doing so will earn you the Mentorship Badge achievement, one of the rarest in the game (and for good reason). Additionally, you’ll acquire the Inverted Eyes cosmetic style for your persistence.
Is the Scoutmaster Defeatable in PEAK?
Once it spawns, the Scoutmaster will latch onto a player and pursue them relentlessly until they manage to lose its attention. It is understandable to want to fight back against it, whether it’s to avoid damage or simply to eliminate this bothersome entity once and for all.
Regrettably, as per the most recent update of PEAK, there is currently no method to eradicate or defeat the Scoutmaster in combat. Once it shows up, it will continue its chase for several minutes until it is no longer able to track you. If it catches you, it will throw you repeatedly until you escape, only to resume its pursuit. Moreover, it climbs faster than you can, making physical escape difficult.
To evade the Scoutmaster in PEAK, keep moving as quickly as your stamina allows. I’ve managed to evade it by running in circles on flat ground and employing unpredictable movement. Ultimately, it did catch up to me, but I had already accomplished the achievement and acquired the cosmetic, so there were no complaints.
