A Sign From Above leads players on a narrative-driven quest set aboard the Hephaestus, a crashed ship, where they aim to retrieve an Ixian Decoder for Ari. However, the plot thickens when a mysterious nobleman requests assistance in locating an individual on the ship.

This mission occurs after the completion of the entire Trials of Aql storyline and directly follows the events of the last trial with Ari. The quest can become a bit perplexing, particularly when players arrive at the Wreck of the Hephaestus. This guide provides all necessary steps to successfully complete this quest.

Locating the Wreck of the Hephaestus

Upon completing the assassination assignments from Fenring’s contact in Harko, you will receive a call from Ari, who has discovered an Ixian Decoder aboard the Hephaestus, located southeast of Hagga Basin. Before proceeding, ensure to construct your own Ornithopter.

Enter your Ornithopter and head toward any edge of Hagga Basin to access the World Map. From there, press the Map button (M for mouse/keyboard), then select Wreck of the Hephaestus from the options on the left. Track the wreck, and an arrow will direct your Ornithopter. Follow the arrow towards the southeast and land at the wreck.

The Cargo Bay

Upon arrival, you will encounter the Dashing Noble, a character searching for a lost princess in the Hephaestus. Agree to assist him and proceed forward. There is a blast door located at the end of the starting area, close to a flare beside a staircase. Open it using your Cutteray and continue onward.

In the next chamber, hostile Suboids will attack. Eliminate them, then locate the pentashield. To bypass this, you will need an eyeball for the retina scanner. Search for the container next to the area entrance and cut it open with your Cutteray to reveal an NPC. You can either persuade him to assist you in opening the door or retrieve an eyeball from a corpse near the pentashield if he refuses.

After you pass through the shield, continue your journey until you arrive at the Cargo Bay. Here, you’ll face numerous Suboids while waiting for the Dashing Noble to restore power to the sector. Once power is restored, find the controls for the suspensor crane on a catwalk to proceed.

Move through the newly opened door and follow the path until you reach a zone filled with hazardous radiation. Sprint through this irradiated area until you reach the main cargo hold, identifiable by the objective tracker prompting you to locate a container.

Open the container situated next to a red flare, then interact with the items inside:

• The Bene Gesserit Sister Suit
• The Catholic Bible
• The Comunninet device

The Bridge

After examining all three items, proceed through the doorway behind the Sister Suit and turn left. Cut through the blast door, then step outside the Hephaestus. Follow the path until you arrive at the bridge section–here, you will need to restore power by cutting open several breaker boxes and engaging with the panels inside.

While restoring power to the ship and fending off Suboids, enter the main bridge area. After a cutscene, collect the Ixian Decoder from the table with the planet hologram.

Upon acquiring the Decoder, the bridge will initiate self-destruction. Retrace your steps to escape the Hephaestus, and once you are back on the World Map, return to Hagga Basin. Ari will reach out again when you return to your base.
