Mark Your Calendars: The Exciting Arrival of Destiny 2 Renegades Approaches

The upcoming expansion for «Destiny 2,» titled «Renegades,» marks an exciting continuation of the game’s narrative arc within The Fate Saga, following the events of «The Edge of Fate.» Notably, this installment represents a groundbreaking collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, integrating elements reminiscent of the iconic «Star Wars» universe into the «Destiny 2» storyline.

Scheduled for launch on December 2, 2025, «Renegades» will coincide with the weekly server reset. Players should anticipate a brief downtime, with the servers expected to go offline at 9:55 AM PT and back online by 11:00 AM CT. While the downtime is relatively short, gamers should be prepared for possible delays, queue times, and the occasionally frustrating error messages that often accompany major updates.

Once the servers are offline, players will have the opportunity to pre-load the expansion on all platforms, though this will not occur until the downtime begins. As a result, early downloading is not an option. Gamers may want to prepare for a sizable update, as installation needs vary by platform. For instance, PlayStation 5 users will require approximately 173.50 GB, while those on Xbox One will need around 161.02 GB.

In terms of content, while «Renegades» may not implement comprehensive systemic changes, it introduces a wealth of new features that flesh out this evolving universe. Players can look forward to a fresh campaign that sees them delve into the criminal underbelly of the game’s world to rescue Drifter and thwart the ambitions of the Barant Imperium–a Cabal faction reminiscent of the Empire, complete with white-armored soldiers and formidable new machinery.

Key new locations include the Tharsis Outpost, a vibrant social hub echoing the atmosphere of a cantina, where players can interact with various criminal groups. Additionally, the «Lawless Frontier» activity promises a dynamic gameplay experience akin to «Helldivers,» allowing players to take on missions across multiple planets with varying objectives, complete with the option for other players to invade missions for enhanced rewards.

Players will also gain access to nine new Renegade abilities that can be unlocked and enhanced by aligning with different syndicates, adding fresh strategic dimensions to gameplay. Moreover, «Renegades» introduces a brand new dungeon where players will collaborate with Aunor Mahal to confront adversaries tied to an ominous figure, Dredgen Bael, while crafting their own version of a lightsaber.

Weapons inspired by the «Star Wars» canon will also make their debut, featuring a blaster archetype that reflects iconic weaponry from the franchise, enhancing gameplay with a novel heat management system. In addition to these features, improvements to the overall gaming experience include a revamped Vanguard Order system, expanded weekly rewards, and increased vault space for player inventory management.

While the expansion does not introduce an entirely new destination, existing planets will showcase novel locales infused with «Star Wars» themes, offering players fresh settings to explore. With player feedback taken into account, «Renegades» aims to alleviate some frustrations regarding progression, promising enhancements that will further refine the ongoing «Destiny 2» experience.

As anticipation builds ahead of the release, fans of the franchise eagerly await the chance to dive into the extensive new content that «Renegades» has to offer, ensuring an engaging and immersive journey through the «Destiny» universe.
