Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Ultimate Auto-Death Build Strategy

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players have the freedom to customize each character extensively, utilizing various Pictos and Lumina. While many builds enhance a character’s existing abilities, some can radically transform gameplay during battles.

One particularly intriguing strategy is the auto-death build, designed to have a character intentionally fall in battle from the onset to empower the remaining members of the team. Below is a guide on how to effectively implement this build, including essential Pictos for success.

How to Acquire the Auto Death & Second Chance Pictos in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The auto-death strategy revolves around using a Picto to eliminate one character right at the battle’s start. This may seem counterproductive, but the fallen character can equip multiple Pictos/Lumina that enhance the other two teammates, allowing for a powerful beginning in combat. With the Second Chance Picto, the deceased character will be revived, ensuring no downside by the time the first action takes place.

Implementation of the auto-death build can vary based on your progress in the main storyline, however, the crucial Picto, Auto Death, can be found in Act 1. Travel to Yellow Harvest located in the northwestern area of the continent’s initial section. Begin your search for merchant Barnaby starting from the Harvester’s Hollow Flag. Move towards the expansive area ahead, keeping right until you find a slope leading upwards; follow this path to a clearing with lamps, where the merchant awaits at the top.

The Auto Death Picto costs 5,320 Chroma.

Additionally, the Death Bomb can be located in an outcropping beyond the Harvester’s Hollow Flag, though it may not significantly impact your build. The subsequent Picto/Lumina needed for this strategy, Second Chance, can be acquired by defeating a storyline boss later in Act 2. Keep progressing through the main story, and you will not overlook it. This allows the character who utilized Auto Death to regain consciousness right at the beginning of the battle. In case you wish to employ this build before obtaining the Second Chance Picto, ensure the character who dies has a slower speed, enabling the first acting character to revive them quickly.

All Pictos for the Auto Death Build in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Once the build is established, assign the listed Pictos to the weakest combatant in your trio. The character that perishes will not receive buffs from any Pictos/Lumina you equip, so it’s advisable to maximize your setup. Ideally, you want to acquire all the Pictos mentioned below to fully benefit from this strategy. Only one character in the party needs to have this build, while the others can focus on any alternative strategies you prefer, as the auto-death character will offer helpful advantages right at the battle’s commencement.
