Overconfident or justified?
League of Legends analyst and LCS commentator Azael holds the view that FlyQuest has a favorable position as they prepare for their Worlds 2025 clash against G2 Esports.
Azael shared his thoughts on the LTA Dive podcast, expressing admiration for FlyQuest’s steady performance and teamwork throughout the tournament. However, when discussing G2’s strengths, he identified the mid lane as the only area where G2 might excel, primarily due to Caps being a significant threat for the team.
«The only area I see G2 in front is the mid lane,» Azael commented, highlighting Caps’ inventive gameplay and crucial moments as critical factors. «Their draft strategy and Caps’ unpredictability make me uneasy.»
Although he acknowledged G2’s potential as a wildcard at Worlds 2025, Azael believes FlyQuest is the more well-rounded squad outside of the mid lane. He expressed concerns regarding the performance of European top laners, particularly noting Brokenblade’s subpar showings in recent international tournaments.
«European top laners are exceptionally weak,» Azael stated. «Oscarinin is performing poorly, and Myrwn isn’t impressive either,» referring to players from Fnatic and Movistar KOI. While Fnatic has been knocked out, Movistar KOI still has a shot at progressing to the Knockout Stage.
Azael’s confidence in FlyQuest is bolstered by Bwipo, who has been one of the team’s most reliable players on the global stage. The Belgian veteran might serve as a pivotal factor in their performance. He also pointed out FlyQuest’s strong bot lane, praising the developing synergy between Massu and Busio as crucial for the team’s success. «I believe we possess a superior bot lane,» Azael noted, highlighting their effective laning phase.
Despite the upcoming match between G2 and FlyQuest guaranteeing that at least one Western team advances to the Knockouts, Azael expressed a preference for FlyQuest to compete against an LCK or LPL team, suggesting that FlyQuest has been handed a manageable opponent at Worlds 2025.
The duel between FlyQuest and G2 is set for October 22, with a direct spot in the Worlds 2025 playoffs at stake. Though the losing team will receive another opportunity to qualify, the competition will become more challenging. For Azael, this matchup embodies a contest between structure and chaos, and he believes FlyQuest’s solid groundwork and reliability will triumph over the unpredictability exhibited by G2.
