Utilizing Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To employ Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends Z-A, trainers must possess at least one type in their inventory before approaching a Pokemon. By pressing ZL, players can aim, and by pressing ZR, they can throw the ball at the target.

To improve the chances of capturing a Pokemon, it is advisable to weaken it first, creating a short window of opportunity (approximately 3.5 seconds) for capturing. This window is indicated by a swirling stars effect around the Pokemon, similar to a confusion state. After a single attempt, the weakened Pokemon will flee.

Trainers can also sneak up on Pokemon to surprise them by using a ball before they can escape or engage in battle. Certain Pokemon, such as Abra (which uses Teleport), can only be caught using this method. The Quick Ball is particularly recommended for this strategy, as it offers the best chance of success when thrown during the first turn, with sneak throws effectively counting as turn 0.
