To improve the chances of capturing a Pokemon, it is advisable to weaken it first, creating a short window of opportunity (approximately 3.5 seconds) for capturing. This window is indicated by a swirling stars effect around the Pokemon, similar to a confusion state. After a single attempt, the weakened Pokemon will flee.

Trainers can also sneak up on Pokemon to surprise them by using a ball before they can escape or engage in battle.
