This iteration introduces a new main character, Melinoe, who is revealed to be the younger sister of Zagreus and the missing offspring of the House of Hades. However, many familiar faces from the original game, like Nyx and Megaera, are absent this time around.

Instead, players will encounter a fresh cast of Greek figures, including Hecate, who serves as Melinoe’s mentor and is a formidable witch. This update promises an array of new romantic pursuits for Mel as she ventures through the Underworld (and beyond) to assert her claim to her heritage. So, who can Melinoe potentially romance? This update refines the list by removing characters that are not eligible for romance, and instead focuses on the four confirmed options, detailing everything needed to pursue each romantic storyline.

Throughout the official 1.0 release of Hades 2, four characters stand out as romantic prospects. While players can build connections with many others, only these four reveal true romantic interactions through special scenes:

How To Romance Characters In Hades 2

Just like Zagreus from the original game, Melinoe can present gifts of Nectar and Ambrosia to deepen her bonds. Furthermore, Hades 2 introduces additional items, such as Twin Fishing Lures and Bath Salts, allowing Melinoe to connect with others through fishing at the Crossroads or enjoying time in hot springs.

It’s important to note that while the hot springs can be a cozy setting, not all interactions within this space imply romance, especially with non-romanceable characters like Hecate.

When it comes to the four romance options, players will notice a heart-shaped arrow emerging on the bond progression bar in the menu, indicating the possibility of romance. Once players reach this arrow or go beyond, they can actively pursue romantic encounters.

Completing all gift offerings for a romanceable character will lead to an official romantic scene. The circumstances that trigger these scenes differ for each character, but players will always be presented with an option to proceed. As of now, there appear to be no negative consequences for pursuing all romantic options in a single playthrough, though the game is still unfolding its secrets.

How to Romance Eris in Hades 2

A Unique Twist On What Romance Can Be

In Hades 2, romance is classified into two styles: friendly and rival romances. This means players can engage in playful conflict with their companions while still enjoying a romantic connection. Eris embodies this dynamic early on – she tends to leave a mess, disregards Hecate’s commands, and frequently challenges Melinoe in combat. After all, she personifies Strife and acts true to her nature.

Eris Romance Requirements:

To pursue a romance with Eris, players should start making offerings as soon as she appears at the Crossroads, situated just behind Moros and the Fated List. Here are her required offerings:

After completing all 14 offerings, players will notice a heart-shaped icon above Eris’s head, indicating readiness for a romantic encounter. The next step is to agree when prompted, leading to the romantic scene.

How to Romance Nemesis in Hades 2

An Obvious Choice For Melinoe

Nemesis was one of the first characters revealed in the promotional campaign for Hades 2. She appears as a formidable figure, decked in armor, with a personality that matches her intimidating presence. Having sparred with Melinoe throughout her life, she presents another challenge as Mel seeks to confront Chronos, even while under Hecate’s orders to remain at the Crossroads.

Nemesis Romance Requirements:

Pursuing a romance with Nemesis follows a similar process: make offerings at the Crossroads, where she can be found west of the garden area and southwest of Odysseus. Here are the offerings needed:

After fulfilling all of Nemesis’s requirements, players should undertake a specific event to unlock her romantic scene. As players progress through the game, they will likely encounter her amidst challenges, providing opportunities for rewards. However, the actual romance scene is likely to unfold during one of these encounters at various points between Erebus and the final area in Tartarus, shortly before confronting Chronos. Continued gameplay will eventually lead players to her romantic scene.

While details remain unclear, a romance scene with Nemesis may trigger after locating the Fates. If you struggle to activate the romance, it might be worth completing this task first.

How to Romance Moros in Hades 2

A Contrast To Other Romances

Moros, another offspring of Nyx, serves the Three Fates as the embodiment of Doom – the last sight for mortals before they exit to the Underworld. He carries the enigmatic charm often found in Nyx’s children and possesses a soft demeanor that complements Melinoe’s character. Gentle and empathetic, he demonstrates curiosity while having a playful rapport with Odysseus regarding his past brushes with peril.

This makes him a promising romantic candidate, akin to how Thanatos complemented Zagreus. However, unlike the siblings, Melinoe and Moros meet for the first time after her incantation to summon the Fates, promising a sweet and memorable romance.

Moros Romance Requirements:

Players will begin offering gifts to Moros once he arrives at the Crossroads, which happens relatively early in the game. He resides next to the Fated List. The offerings required for him are:

Once Moros’s bond progression is fully established, triggering his romance requires an unusual action: you must die. When this occurs, Moros intervenes just as he did upon your initial meeting and professes his feelings, giving players the opportunity to proceed with the romance scene.

How to Romance Icarus in Hades 2

He And Melinoe Have History

Players encounter Icarus above ground after conquering Polyphemus and navigating through Chronos’ ship graveyard. He assists in battles and provides Melinoe with a unique boon. As players interact with Icarus further, he reveals more about his background and connection to Melinoe, including secrets regarding her arm.

The relatability and chemistry between them suggest a budding romance, although the nature of their past remains shrouded in mystery.

Icarus Romance Requirements:

Icarus presents a different dynamic, requiring players to unlock the Surface before meeting him. He appears in the Rift of Thessaly, providing aerial assistance. Forming a bond with Icarus may take longer, as his appearances aren’t guaranteed every time you visit the Surface. Early on, you can only make an offering just before he bestows a boon. After your bond strengthens, Melinoe will insist he visits the Crossroads regularly.

How to Get the Ectoplasmic Draught for Icarus:

Upon completing the first 13 offerings to Icarus, players need to continue conversing until Melinoe brings up a drink that would revive him momentarily. This dialogue leads to unlocking the Nightlife for the Dead incantation, which necessitates gathering specific items.

Once you have obtained the Ectoplasmic Draught, present it to Icarus like any other offering. Wait for the moment he returns to the Crossroads and see a heart icon above his head. At this point, engaging him will prompt the romantic scene opportunity.
