In the realm of VALORANT esports, several thrilling matches have unfolded, yet none quite compared to the excitement seen during the finals of the VCT Champions in Paris.
On October 5, the North American team NRG clashed with Fnatic in an incredibly riveting VALORANT series. Despite various ups and downs this season and featuring primarily rookie players, NRG triumphantly completed their remarkable journey by securing victory against Fnatic with a final score of 3-2, earning the coveted trophy of the year’s premier tournament.
The match was nothing short of spectacular. NRG initially dominated the first two maps, Corrode and Lotus. However, the third map, Abyss, turned the tide unexpectedly. Fnatic found themselves trailing 1-11 at halftime, leading many viewers to predict an easy 3-0 finish for NRG, marking a historic win in VALORANT esports.
In an astonishing turn, Fnatic proved their resilience, executing a remarkable comeback that resulted in a thrilling overtime win. This momentum propelled them into the fourth map, Ascent, where they secured another victory, leveling the series at 2-2 and reigniting hope among their fans.
The decisive final map took place on Sunset, where NRG showcased their prowess and managed to hold their ground, comfortably finishing the first half with a commanding 9-3 lead. Unfortunately for Fnatic, they were unable to narrow the gap, allowing NRG to clinch a hard-fought win.
Had Fnatic completed the reverse sweep, it would have been recognized as the most remarkable comeback in VALORANT esports history since 2021. Leading up to the tournament, few anticipated that NRG would advance so far, especially considering their struggles throughout VCT 2025, significant roster changes, and a last-minute qualification for the Champions.
In addition to NRG’s victory, brawk, the initiator and Odin specialist for the team, was awarded the MVP title for VALORANT Champions Paris. This win also marks Ethan’s second Champions title, with his first achieved alongside Evil Geniuses in 2023.
