In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the game offers a variety of mechanics, and for those looking to enhance their damage output, the Tempering system is essential. However, this mechanic is more complex than a straightforward weapon upgrade; players need to understand its intricacies to succeed.
This guide will explore the fundamentals of the Tempering feature in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, detailing how to access it and effectively utilize it in combat.
Understanding Tempering in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The Tempering mechanic allows players to momentarily enhance their weapons in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. This feature becomes accessible early in the game after defeating Dhutanga at Lightzen Temple.
To initiate the Tempering process, players must equip Needles through the Temper menu at any Shrine. The Bone Needles provide significant upgrades, such as adding elemental damage to your strikes, while Shadow Stone Needles offer minor stat enhancements.
Note that Shadow Stone Needles cannot be equipped unless a Bone Needle is placed in your primary Tempering acupoint slot.
Utilizing Tempering in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Essentially, Tempering operates similarly to using weapon greases found in other Soulslike titles – to initiate it, you must equip the Temperance item in one of your quick access slots. This item is limited to one charge by default and replenishes whenever you rest at a Shrine. When activated, Wuchang will apply the equipped Needles to her weapon by striking it against her cursed arm. The effect lasts briefly, giving you time to execute a few strong combos during critical fights.
It’s important to note that not every weapon can be tempered; those with inherent elemental effects are exempt, while purely physical damage weapons can utilize this mechanic. Additionally, elemental enhancements from Discipline or weapon skills will not override Tempering effects, allowing for potent combinations.
Additional acupoints for Stone Needles can be unlocked by spending Red Mercury at the Impetus Repository.
Tempering is particularly effective against challenging foes like elite enemies and bosses. Keep an eye on your targets’ elemental vulnerabilities, as you will gain access to a variety of Bone Needles corresponding to different elemental damage types, thus broadening your strategic options.
