The prestigious Counter-Strike Major championship makes its anticipated return to North America with the BLAST Austin Major 2025, bringing the world’s elite CS2 teams to Texas for a chance to secure their place in esports history.

After an impressive performance at IEM Dallas, Team Vitality arrives in Austin on a high note, having extended their remarkable winning streak to 30 games. With veteran player apEX leading the charge, they are aiming for a second Major title following their victory at the BLAST Paris Major in 2023.

However, competition will be fierce, as Team Spirit, the champions of the last CS2 Major in Shanghai, is riding the momentum of their recent success at PGL Astana. Other teams like Team Falcons, MOUZ, The MongolZ, NAVI, and the refreshed FaZe Clan also pose significant threats to Vitality’s ambitions.

This marks the first Major hosted in the U.S. in seven years, since the ELEAGUE Boston Major in 2018. The comeback event features some of the most iconic players in CS history, including ZyWoo, m0NESY, donk, and s1mple.

The BLAST Austin Major 2025 offers a total prize pool of $1.25 million.

BLAST Austin Major 2025 Schedule

The Austin Major spans from June 3 to June 22, 2025. Below are the significant dates for each phase of the tournament:

Teams and Format for BLAST Austin Major 2025

A total of 32 teams will compete in the Major. Sixteen teams are already allocated in Stages 2 and 3, while the remaining 16 teams will battle it out in Stage 1 through the Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQ). All teams were selected based on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) system.

The tournament format for all three stages follows a 16-team Swiss System. Matches are played as best-of-one, except for advancement and elimination matches, which are best-of-three. The top eight teams from each stage move forward, while the bottom eight teams are eliminated.

In the playoffs, the eight remaining teams will compete in a single-elimination bracket at the Moody Center, with all matches being best-of-three, including the grand finals.
