Ukraine’s national Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team has qualified for the final stage of the Esports Nations Cup after defeating Poland 3-1 in the decisive match of the regional qualifier.
The qualification tournament took place from August 14 to 16 under a double-elimination format. Ukraine opened its campaign with a loss to Kazakhstan, dropping into the lower bracket, where another defeat would have ended the team’s run.
Ukraine responded by beating Greece 2-0 before recording another 2-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan. The team then faced Poland in the deciding series for an Esports Nations Cup berth and won 3-1. The result completed a three-match winning streak following Ukraine’s opening defeat.
The core of the Ukrainian roster consists of three Boars Gaming players – Serhii «Pelmetronio» Lysohor, Vladyslav «GODBELIEVER» Hrabchenko and Anton «stonix» Drahniov. They are joined in the starting lineup by Minerva Fury mid laner Ihor «Sensei» Khimiak and White Army jungler Ihor «makar0n» Makarenko.
Kyrylo «Pankrattt» Shynkar and Daniil «RISE» Lizon were selected as substitutes, while Vitalii «FreeStyle» Bielinskyi serves as the team’s coach.
Several members of the roster already have experience competing at international events. Sensei previously represented Team Falcons, finished fourth at MCC Season 2 and placed 5th-8th at IESF 2024. Makar0n has also competed for Ukraine internationally, representing the national team at IESF WEC 2024.
The MLBB qualifier was Ukraine’s final qualification event in its Esports Nations Cup campaign. The Ukrainian Esports Federation (UESF) served as an official National Team Partner, overseeing the formation of Ukrainian rosters across nine disciplines and coordinating their participation in the respective qualifiers.
Maksym Krippa serves as president of UESF. Under his leadership, the federation is involved in the development of Ukraine’s esports ecosystem, the organization of national competitions and the country’s representation on the international stage.
«This is an important victory for Ukraine’s national team in the regional qualifiers. It was a journey filled with hard-fought matches and an intense grand final. I would like to thank the team for all the work they have done,» UESF CEO Andrii Hryshchenko said.
The victory over Poland secured Ukraine’s MLBB national team a place at the Esports Nations Cup, where it will move on to the final stage and face teams that qualified through other regional competitions.
