In the world of Nioh 3, players can embark on an intriguing quest presented by the blacksmith located within the Eternal Rift. She is on a mission to recover her lost memories, which requires the discovery of three legendary hidden blades from the Heian Era. To aid her, players must journey primarily through the southern regions to locate these artifacts as part of the «Memories in the Blade Myth.»
The quest initiates after completing the «Sacred Mountain Defiled,» the main storyline event situated in the Heian Era. Once this mission concludes, players can return to the Eternal Rift and converse with the blacksmith to kick-start their journey into the mythic exploration of these revered blades.
The first famed hidden blade is located in the Hachijo area. After discussing with the blacksmith, she will provide guidance on where to find it. Players should teleport to the Nishiichi Shrine, ascend the northern slope, climb a ladder, and break through some boxes to reveal a Spirit Vein. This area leads players around a house, where they can retrieve the Dojikiri Yasutsuna hidden blade from a nearby tombstone.
Once this first blade is handed over, the blacksmith will mark the next location on the player’s map, directing them to the Sagano region. Teleporting to the Matsuo-taisha Shrine: Great Torii Shrine is the quickest method. Players must climb the stairs, destroy some bamboo obscuring a secret entrance, leap onto the roof of an abandoned structure, and slip through a hole to find the Mikazuki Munechika hidden blade in a chest.
The last blade is found within the Crucible and is only accessible during the «Frozen City, Blazing Tree» main quest. Here, players need to explore until reaching the Palace Grounds: Shunka Gate Bodhisattva Statue. After a battle with a yokai in a nearby house, players can claim the Odenta Mitsuyo hidden blade from a chest.
Upon returning to the blacksmith with all three blades, she regains her memories, including her name and her expertise in weapon forging. As gratitude, she thanks the players for their assistance and reveals her ability to craft additional items, thus completing the «Memories in Blades Myth» quest. Each blade found also unlocks a Smithing Text, enhancing the crafting options available to players in Nioh 3.
