Brushes with Death marks the inaugural expansion for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, providing players with 8 to 12 hours of immersive gameplay. How to Begin the Source of Inspiration Quest
To initiate the Source of Inspiration Quest, you need to converse with Master Voyta inside Trosky Castle immediately after finishing the «Sketchy Situation» quest, which unlocks the Brushes with Death DLC. During this dialogue, Voyta inquires about the location of a pagan shrine dedicated to Veles. He will suggest seeking an elderly woman located north of Tachov who may possess the necessary information.
If you have previously visited Vidlák Pond, fast travel there and speak with Kvyetoslava. While she may struggle to remember details, she will reference Valerian flowers that someone once picked for her.
Gathering Valerian in the Source of Inspiration Quest
To obtain five Valerian flowers, ask her again about their whereabouts. She will indicate that you can find them either by the stream or in the meadow next to her cottage. Begin your search to the north while observing the ground closely; eventually, you will discover patches of Valerian flowers. Collecting two batches should suffice, allowing you to return to her.
How to Acquire Poet’s Gut Trophy/Achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
After you present the Valerian, Kvyetoslava will mention a dress she used to wear, which is currently in poor condition and requires repair. If you possess a tailor’s kit, you can fix it immediately; otherwise, you will need to repair it at Troskowitz before consulting the tailor there.
The next stage of the quest is crucial, as it ties into a missable trophy/achievement for completionists. You will need approximately 20 in Charisma and Scholarship to successfully navigate the skill checks associated with the trophy. Increasing your Scholarship can be achieved by reading books from scribes, while various clothing items sold by the tailor at Troskowitz can boost your Charisma.
Additionally, you can improve your Scholarship by visiting Scribe Erazim within Trosky Castle, who will enhance your skills for a fee of 200 Groschen.
Upon giving her the dress, you will undergo four skill checks. Avoid selecting the third option. Successfully completing these checks rewards you with the «Poet’s Gut» trophy/achievement.
Locating the Veles Shrine in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
After completing the skill checks, inquire again about the shrine, and she will provide you with three potential locations. Two of these–the rocky hill between the ponds and the stream by Nebakov Fortress–are standard pagan shrines, so there is no need to visit them. Instead, head to the third option, which is the river tributary of Lower Semine Pond.
Fast travel to Nebakov Fortress, then navigate west through the forest until you reach your destination. You’ll encounter four bandits in the shrine vicinity that you must confront before proceeding. You can engage them directly, or wait until 1 a.m. when they will be asleep, allowing you to eliminate them silently with a dagger.
Once the bandits have been dealt with, feel free to loot their bodies and any nearby chests. Then, approach the shrine and examine it to fulfill the quest objective. Afterwards, return to Voyta to inform him of the shrine’s location and take him there. After a concluding cutscene, the quest will be complete.
