In REPO, dying doesn’t signal the end of your gameplay. With the newly introduced Monster Update, players can continue to engage even after their semibot is eliminated. The Death Head Possession feature allows deceased players to haunt the living, manipulate their severed heads to distract monsters in REPO, and communicate with remaining teammates through proximity chat. This adds a humorous yet slightly eerie twist to the game, enabling players to remain impactful even after death. To effectively utilize this feature, it’s essential to grasp the workings of the Death Head Battery upgrade in REPO.
Understanding Death Head Possession
Typically, when your semibot is eliminated, your presence is reduced to an immobile head, unable to move or communicate. However, Death Head Possession transforms this experience.
Upon activation, when your head’s eyes open, you have the ability to press E to take control, thereby shifting from spectator mode to direct manipulation. Using the spacebar, you can bounce around and engage in voice chat, allowing nearby players to hear your warnings about looming dangers, guide them to safe extraction points, or divert monsters away.
Functionality of the Death Head Battery in REPO
Death Head Possession has a limited energy source: your Death Head Battery. This battery impacts the duration you can move, communicate, or haunt before replenishing energy. After death, your head must recharge, indicated by the gradual opening of your semibot’s eyes. Once fully open, you are ready to utilize your possession charges.
However, the charge diminishes rapidly, especially while moving and speaking, leading to a greater need to wait for recharge time than actual usage. Movement tends to be slow and cumbersome yet remains beneficial.
Monsters in REPO react to sound; therefore, utilizing your voice can effectively distract them from your living teammates. For instance, if the Huntsman is nearby, your vocal head can serve as bait, allowing your team a chance to escape.
Initially, your Death Head Battery has a minimal capacity, providing only a few seconds for movement and speech before its energy is exhausted. This is where the Death Head Battery Upgrade, available from the Service Station, becomes essential. This enhancement extends the duration of your possession, allowing you to remain active longer during each charge.
While the upgrade doesn’t expedite recharge time, it significantly extends the time you can be mobile or vocal once your energy is replenished. By acquiring multiple upgrades, players can effectively haunt their environment for lengthened periods.
This feature is especially beneficial at higher difficulty levels in REPO, where player deaths are frequent, and respawn times can be lengthy. Instead of being idle, you can aid your team’s survival by alerting them to monster movements, identifying safe paths, or distracting the monsters from your teammates.
