Dying Light: The Beast introduces numerous powerful legendary weapons, many of which are concealed in hard-to-find areas that only attentive players might discover. A notable weapon is the legendary long-sword Excalibur (EXPcalibur II), which has been a recurring feature in previous games and makes a glorious return in this sequel. However, retrieving the EXPcalibur from its resting place is not as straightforward as it seems; players must find eight stone sigils to place near the sword.
Locations of All Stone Sigils for EXPcalibur in Dying Light: The Beast
Before embarking on the quest to retrieve Excalibur (EXPcalibur II), players must locate eight stone sigils spread across the game world in Dying Light: The Beast. Most sigils are accessible without heavy story progression, though certain locations will require players to complete specific missions. Below are the locations of each sigil.
Location of the Stone Sigil: The Void
The first stone sigil can be found southeast of the Monastery, close to a waterfall in Dying Light: The Beast. Climb to the high platform and look for a narrow passage that leads into a cave behind the waterfall.
Upon entering, players will need to battle several enemies before reaching the loot, including a purple-rarity baseball bat. To find the Void stone sigil, look to the left for a small pond inside the cave, where it can be retrieved from the skull of a deer.
Location of the Stone Sigil: The Moon
The next stone sigil is nearby; exit the cave and follow the path on the right. Head to the area shown on the map to find a narrow crack that Kyle can slip through.
Inside, a hidden campsite adorned with yellow-leaf trees and a tent awaits. As you enter this space, glance to your immediate left to spot a large stone displaying The Moon stone sigil.
Location of the Stone Sigil: Witch’s Mark
The next sigil is also close by, but requires you to navigate around the mountain and traverse the river into the pass to the east of the previous sigil’s location. After following the path for a bit, you will encounter an abandoned cabin.
You can either dispatch the many zombies in the vicinity or rush into the cabin. Right upon entering, the Witch’s Mark stone sigil can be taken from the wall on your right.
Location of the Stone Sigil: Sacrifice
Further east from the prior location, you’ll arrive at an area featuring stone slabs placed outdoors. To the left, there’s a small enclosed space you can enter.
Inside, turn around to discover the Sacrifice stone sigil on the wall to the center (stone slab).
Location of the Stone Sigil: Blood
The next sigil is located in St. Valentine Asylum, specifically in its courtyard. Go to the marked location to find a fountain in the center of the courtyard, which holds the Blood stone sigil.
Location of the Stone Sigil: Curse
To find the next sigil, head north from the asylum until you reach the Memorial Hill of Heroes. Upon arriving at the memorial from the asylum, dash towards the treeline to the right (as indicated on the map).
Continuing deeper into the woods will lead you to a small area with tree roots in the center, alongside a skeleton nearby. You can retrieve the Curse stone sigil from the skeleton’s mouth.
Location of the Stone Sigil: Death
For the next sigil, you need to visit the church in the Old Town. This area becomes accessible only after completing the third main mission titled «The Beast Within» in Dying Light: The Beast.
If this mission is completed, approach the entrance of the church and enter the small passage on the right. It will lead to the church’s crypt, where the Death stone sigil can be obtained from the angel statue on the right.
Location of the Stone Sigil: Shadow
The final sigil is situated in the Cave of Exiles, which only becomes available after finishing the eighth main story mission titled «Some Like It Dark.»
Once you access the cave, enter inside, and the Shadow stone sigil will be located near the entrance, among some cushions and candles.
How to Acquire Excalibur (EXPcalibur II) in Dying Light: The Beast
With all eight stone sigils in hand, it’s time to head to the location of EXPcalibur and extract the sword from the stone. The Excalibur (EXPcalibur II) is found northeast of the Monastery, perched atop a peak. Simply follow the marked location on the map to reach this spot.
After arriving at the designated area, you will encounter several outcroppings covered in vines. Use these vines to ascend to a higher ledge of the rock formation.
Navigate around the mountain to find a climbable route to the side. Follow the indicators in the image above to scale the top of the outcrop.
Upon reaching the summit, you’ll notice a ceremonial site where the EXPcalibur is embedded in stone at its center. To summon an enemy, place all eight sigils at the corners of the star-shaped arrangement formed by sticks.
After dealing with the enemy, you can interact with the sword. Commence pulling the sword, which will require more time than picking up a regular weapon (similar to earlier installments). Once the white circle surrounding the interaction prompt is complete, you will successfully obtain the legendary long-sword Excalibur (EXPcalibur) in Dying Light: The Beast.
