Hollow Knight: Silksong features expansive environments that encourage players to thoroughly search the map for hidden paths that may conceal valuable items or tools. In addition to discovering tools through exploration, players can also acquire them from specific vendors in exchange for Rosaries and Craftmetal. The Scuttlebrace is a tool available to players during the second Act of the game. Here’s how to obtain it and what it does within Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Upon arriving at the second Act of the game and navigating through the Underworks, players will eventually enter the Citadel. From here, direct your path to the left portion of the map. When you arrive at the elevator that requires the White Key to use, head to the upper right section of the map, known as Songclave.

This location is where you can find the White Key and ring the bell at the First Shrine, making Songclave a central hub for NPCs and quest givers. Afterward, return to the Elevator and descend to reach Whiteward. This leads to a key story segment where you must venture down into the eastern side of the Underworks to acquire your next ability, Clawline.

With the new ability in hand, head back to the bench in the Underworks where you can overhear an NPC speaking. Use your grapple ability to reach a high point and dash right to enter the Twelfth Architect’s Workshop. Here, you can converse with the NPC and purchase the Scuttlebrace Tool for 140 Rosaries and 1 Craftmetal.

The Scuttlebrace is a distinct Yellow Tool that enables players to execute a quick retreat, mimicking a spider’s movements. To initiate the Scuttle, press the RT/R2 button on your controller or the down button and C on your keyboard. It’s worth noting that by holding the button down, Hornet can cover considerable distance while in this mode and even walk on walls.
