Inserting the Rods into the Slots
Fundamentally, these puzzles are straightforward. You simply need to place the Lymbic Rods you discover across the game world into the designated slots on the chest. Generally, each chest has three slots to fill. Some may already contain rods, while others require you to find all three.
Players often find themselves confused by the various colors and symbols on Lymbic Rods in Hell Is Us. Even if a rod has the correct symbol that matches its corresponding slot, it might not align in color.
When the colors don’t match, the chest will remain locked, and you’ll see the ‘The rods were pushed out’ message instead.
Verifying Lymbic Chest Rod Color and Symbol in Hell Is Us

Typically, Lymbic Rods are discovered by interacting with any yellow or gold shimmer you notice in the environment while exploring. They can be hidden in secret areas or visible in the open. It’s highly advisable to thoroughly explore the game world and complete activities such as ‘Mysteries’ and ‘Good Deeds’ (i.e., side quests), which will likely lead to the acquisition of many rods as you progress.
It’s also important to note that the necessary Lymbic Rods may not always be located near the chests that require them. Thus, take note of the positions of Lymbic Chests and the rods needed so you can return to them later.
It’s not mandatory to open Lymbic Chests to complete the game. While the items inside can aid in your journey or assist with closing the Timeloops throughout the world, you can finish the storyline without needing to open many of them.
