The 2025 Summer Split format for the LEC has been met with ongoing backlash from fans, with GiantX ADC Noah recently voicing his strong discontent.

Noah expressed, «This format is terrible. We have to wait 17 days for one match, and then another 10 days for the next. Just two matches in 27 days is absolutely insane,» on X (formerly Twitter). «Meanwhile, LCK and LPL teams are competing in two matches each week,» he pointed out, underscoring the limited competitive League matches available in Europe compared to Asian regions.

Fans have voiced their frustrations with the LEC’s erratic scheduling, which sees matches sporadically held on Tuesdays, causing disruption in the flow of competition. New entrants like NAVI have also criticized the ineffective format, stating it doesn’t allow adequate time for emerging teams to integrate and correct their errors on stage.

Noah further highlighted the competitive imbalance, noting that teams in the LPL and LCK are playing significantly more matches on stage. He argued that this scarcity of high-stakes match exposure is a major factor in why European teams have fallen short in international tournaments.

This sentiment reflects a discussion initiated by Anyone’s Legends’ coach Tabe during MSI 2025, which addressed the stark differences in scrim cultures. Increasing the number of official matches could be vital for Europe to close the experiential gap and bolster their competitiveness on the global stage.

LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov confirmed that the current Summer Split format will be altered next year. The league is already in discussions to implement a hybrid online/offline format for future events, ensuring teams participate in enough matches to be on par with teams from other regions and provide them the necessary practice to enhance their performances.

GiantX has successfully qualified for the LEC Summer Split 2025. Their next challenge will be against Team BDS in the Loser’s bracket, where a single loss could mark the end of their season.
