How to Utilize Moly Root in Titan Quest 2

Moly Root is a flower that players will encounter early in Titan Quest 2. Upon inspection, they’ll discover that it is categorized as a Currency, which can lead to some confusion. The description mentions that it ‘restores what has been transformed,’ hinting at its potential use in quests.

Throughout their journey, players will come across several of these flowers, leaving them wondering about their purpose. Despite lacking a direct associated quest, there are hidden objectives involving Moly Root. This guide aims to clarify its uses in Titan Quest 2.

Locating Moly Root in Titan Quest 2

The Moly Root can be found in three key locations within the Flooded Farmlands, which is the first open-world area players explore during the Main Fate Quest in Titan Quest 2. The first location is accessible after exiting the Crypt found in the Temple of Glaukos. Players should follow the priestess after absorbing the Titan Ichor, and they will spot the flower on a cliff surrounded by Icthian enemies.

The second Moly Root is conveniently located in an abandoned garden situated between Pyrgos Village and Glaukos Temple. This root is easily visible, and a piece of lore mentions how Circe used it to transform Odysseus’s crew into pigs, providing a clue about its functionality in the game.

Lastly, in the northern reaches of the Flooded Farmlands, there is a location known as the Farmlands Crossroads, which lies north of The Enclave. Here, players will discover the third Moly Root along the northeastern path leading to a small village, also connected to one of the game’s secrets that requires the Moly Root for puzzle-solving. Players should mark this location for future reference.

Utilizing Moly Root in Titan Quest 2

Moly Root has an intriguing description that states it ‘returns things to their true form.’ This can be utilized to revert NPCs or players who may find themselves cursed and transformed into monsters. In Pyrgos Village, there is a Strange Man NPC behaving like a chicken. This character is actually a cursed Chicken, and players can restore it by exchanging one Moly Root.

To tackle the ‘chicken puzzle’ in Pyrgos Village, players need to take the transformed Chicken around town to various chicken coops until it finds its home. After visiting six specific locations–all the dead-end roads within Pyrgos on the map–the Chicken will reward players with Gold, Experience, and Embers of Night.

Returning to the Farmlands Crossroads, players will find a trapdoor behind the vendor’s building. Entering this trapdoor may initially result in a curse turning the player into a spider. By moving around a bit and approaching the door, players will receive a prompt asking if they wish to use Moly Root. Interacting with the door allows players to revert back to human form and open it, but this requires having a Moly Root in their inventory.

Inside the cellar, players should look for eight Green Spiders scattered throughout. Defeating these will yield ‘Spider Excretions.’ Once players have eight of these items, they should proceed deeper into the Spider Cellar to locate a Cauldron. Placing the eight excretions in the cauldron will grant players Experience and a permanent +10 boost to Energy.

It’s possible that Moly Root may have additional uses, and this gameplay mechanic might be encountered throughout the adventure. We will continue to update this guide as new information becomes available.
