OpTic Gaming has once again showcased their supremacy in the Call of Duty esports arena in a truly impressive manner.

Led by the exceptional player Shotzzy, OpTic overwhelmed Vancouver Surge with a decisive 4-0 victory in the grand final, securing the title at the Black Ops 6 Esports World Cup 2025. This championship marks a thrilling conclusion to a season filled with challenges for the Green Wall.

«This victory means everything to me,» Shotzzy expressed in the post-match interview. «The beginning of this year was incredibly tough, and being able to turn it around (feels amazing).»

Indeed, OpTic faced a rough start to the year, struggling to secure consistent playoff appearances during the first three stages of the CoD League 2025. However, a fourth-place finish in Stage 4 Major allowed them to accumulate enough points to qualify for the CDL Championship as the seventh seed, paving the way for a remarkable comeback.

During the CDL Championship Weekend 2025, OpTic demonstrated their prowess. With rising star Mercules at the helm, they dominated the upper bracket, recording 3-0 victories over Atlanta FaZe, Toronto Ultra, and Boston Breach, before eventually defeating the revitalized Vancouver in a gripping 5-3 match to claim back-to-back world titles.

Several weeks later at the BO6 EWC, OpTic maintained their momentum. They breezed through the tournament, not losing a single series and only dropping three maps throughout. They quickly dispatched FiveFears and Cloud9 with 3-0 victories in the group stage, defeated 100 Thieves 3-1 in the quarterfinals, and achieved a stunning reverse sweep of Team Heretics 3-2 in the semifinals.

In the grand final against Vancouver once more, OpTic appeared to be in sublime form. They secured a thrilling win on Rewind Hardpoint with a score of 250-236, then dominated the following three maps: 6-1 on Protocol Search and Destroy, 3-1 on Protocol Control, and finished with a substantial 250-118 on Hacienda Hardpoint.

When asked about whether OpTic is the best team in the world at the moment, Shotzzy confidently stated, «Undeniably.»

He further hinted that this could mark the dawn of a new era for OpTic. «I sense that this is just the beginning of something extraordinary. My teammates are all exceptionally skilled. At times, it feels like we have an unfair advantage,» said the 24-year-old pro.

Shotzzy earned the tournament MVP title, boasting impressive stats including a 1.04 KD, a slayer rating of 89.9, 1.01 in respawn KD, and 1.24 in SnD KD. Additionally, OpTic took home the $600,000 grand prize and 1,000 club points, ensuring their participation in next year’s Esports World Cup.

With Black Ops 7 on the horizon, all eyes will be on Shotzzy and the Green Wall to see if they can maintain their impressive performance amidst increasing competition.
