Marvel Rivals has introduced a unique currency known as Unstable Molecules, allowing players to enhance their skins customization options with vibrant features.
Although Marvel Rivals is essentially a free-to-play game, it offers an array of flashy cosmetic items for players to collect and show off. Instead of purchasing items with real money directly, players can acquire virtual currencies to obtain skins and other accessories. Unstable Molecules became available in the game following the update released on April 17.
Here’s what you need to know about Unstable Molecules and how to acquire them in Marvel Rivals.
What are Unstable Molecules? Explanation of the New Currency in Marvel Rivals
Unstable Molecules are represented by a distinctive icon that resembles a test tube filled with molecules. Currently, this currency is exclusive to the skin customization feature in Marvel Rivals. To apply a color change to a compatible skin or obtain a custom ultimate VFX, you will need 600 Unstable Molecules. This currency cannot be used for any other in-game purchases.
To acquire Unstable Molecules, you can Exchange Lattice on a 1:1 basis. For instance, converting 1,000 Lattice will grant you 1,000 Unstable Molecules.
Similar to Units and Chrono Tokens, Unstable Molecules cannot be bought or exchanged from the Store. Here’s how to obtain them:
- Access the Store tab from the main menu.
- Select the skin you wish to customize for a unique color change or ultimate VFX. If you do not currently own the skin, you will first need to buy it using units.
- Click on the Customize button.
- Your current Unstable Molecule amount will appear in the top right. Click the test tube icon to open the exchange interface.
- Use the plus icon to specify how many Unstable Molecules you want to exchange. Ensure you have the necessary Lattice available, or select the Lattice button to buy it on the same page.
- Once you are ready to finalize the exchange, click the Lattice button.
Following these steps, you will have the desired quantity of Unstable Molecules in your account. Utilize them to customize your hero’s costume in Marvel Rivals with the selected color scheme or Ultimate VFX, which will be visible only to you for clarity during gameplay.
How to Acquire Unstable Molecules in Marvel Rivals
In addition to converting Lattice into Unstable Molecules, there are two more methods to earn them. Starting from season three, players can earn Unstable Molecules through the seasonal battle pass, similar to other in-game currencies like Units and Lattice. Upon purchasing the battle pass, players will continue to receive these Unstable Molecules even after the season concludes.
Moreover, there are seasonal events that reward players with Unstable Molecules. Currently, the Summer Special event is providing players with 400 Unstable Molecules for free, requiring only gameplay participation and battle pass progression to earn these resources without any monetary investment.
