Four Highly Rated VALORANT Players in the VCT Masters Toronto Swiss Stage Came from the Same Team

The preliminary Swiss segment of VCT Masters Toronto has now wrapped up. One of the most impressive performances came from Gen.G, who completed the stage without a single defeat–a feat largely attributed to the outstanding contributions of four of their VALORANT players, who currently have some of the highest ratings this season.

Recognized as one of the premier global VALORANT tournaments of 2025, VCT Masters Toronto showcased thrilling matches during its Swiss phase from June 7 to 11. In this high-pressure format, teams had to secure two victories before incurring two losses to remain in contention, with four advancing to the playoff stage while the others were eliminated.

Gen.G entered the Masters Toronto as the second seed from the Pacific region after losing to Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) in the grand finals of the VCT 2025: Pacific Stage One in May. While RRQ earned a direct berth into the playoffs, Gen.G had to navigate the Swiss stage to secure their playoff spot. Remarkably, under Munchkin’s leadership, the team secured two seamless victories against MIBR and PRX without dropping a single map.

According to statistics from vlr.gg, four players from Gen.G–t3xture, Foxy9, Karon, and Ash–achieved the highest player ratings during the Swiss stage of Masters Toronto.

T3xture and Foxy9 led the Swiss stage as the top-performing VALORANT players, with ratings of 1.43 and 1.28, respectively, while Karon and Ash secured the fourth and fifth positions. Munchkin narrowly missed breaking into the top five but secured a strong ninth-place ranking. Notably, Spring of Wolves Esports also achieved an impressive rating of 1.28–tying with Foxy9–placing them among the top four players from Gen.G.

The vlr rating system evaluates five performance metrics: kill contribution, death contribution, assist contribution, damage contribution, and survival contribution, to derive an overall rating for each VALORANT player. It appears that Gen.G’s ratings received a significant boost from their commanding 2-0 victory over MIBR, a match that epitomized «team differential.» Their encounter with PRX was another vital win, as all members of Gen.G maintained stellar stats across both maps.

Gen.G isn’t alone in their undefeated status at VCT Masters Toronto; Sentinels also advanced through the Swiss stage with two consecutive wins, overcoming Bilibili Gaming and Wolves Esports. However, when taking round differentials into account, Gen.G comes out ahead. They have won 52 rounds while only losing 20 (+32), whereas Sentinels have claimed 61 rounds but lost 46 (+15). It remains to be seen if Gen.G will sustain their strong performance as they head into the playoffs, with the championship battles for the Masters trophy commencing on June 13.

Next, Gen.G will face Fnatic in the opening round of the VCT Masters Toronto playoffs on June 14.
