Judgment is a unique weapon that has its fans and detractors–there’s little room for neutrality. This Stasis hand cannon excels in «cool» builds, especially with the updates brought by the Rite of the Nine, making it a leading option in Destiny 2.
Judgment is a 140 RPM Stasis hand cannon that can be obtained from the Prophecy dungeon. The previous iteration had some commendable configurations for both PvE and PvP, but the updated version introduces Rimestealer for enhanced Stasis synergy alongside perks like Precision Instrument that can dominate in Crucible matches.

The PvE configuration has seen a substantial enhancement since the weapon’s last return in Season of the Wish. You can still use Headstone to generate Stasis crystals with precision kills, but now it can be combined with either Rimestealer or Paracausal Affinity for added benefits. Rimestealer provides stacks of Frost Armor when eliminating Stasis crystals or frozen adversaries, making it excellent for any Stasis-focused loadout.
At maximum stacks of Frost Armor, players experience a 22.5% damage reduction (36% with Whisper of Rime), which, while useful, may not match the resilience offered by other classes’ sustainability solutions. Additionally, players may have alternative sources of Frost Armor from Aspects and Fragments, potentially diminishing the utility of Rimestealer.
If boosting damage is the goal, opting for Paracausal Affinity is a smart choice. This perk provides a damage increase whenever a kill is secured that matches the weapon’s alignment (Dark: Stasis on Strand), granting a 20% damage buff for seven seconds after securing a kill with the weapon itself.
In PvP scenarios, this hand cannon benefits from Slideshot, which is a powerful perk that enhances range and stability while also reloading the magazine after sliding. This quality is favored by many players for their PvP hand cannons, including the notable Rose.
Precision Instrument serves as an excellent choice for PvP hand cannons such as Exalted Truth. This perk allows players to secure kills with two precision hits and one body shot instead of requiring three precision hits. However, if a shot is missed, all stacks are lost, making this perk more suitable for skilled sharpshooters.
Whether Precision Instrument can achieve a kill with two crits and one body shot depends on the number of stacks and the opponent’s Resilience tier.
If you’re uncertain about consistently landing shots required for Precision Instrument, Opening Shot is a commendable alternative. It grants a boost of 25 range and 20 aim assist for the first shot. The practical advantage gained from that increased range largely relies on the magazine size and Masterwork.
How to acquire Judgment in Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine
The redesigned version of Judgment can solely be obtained through the Rite of the Nine edition of the Prophecy dungeon, available in the Eternity node. This event version of the dungeon provides three difficulty levels: Explorer, Eternity, and Ultimatum, with the latter two featuring enhanced mechanics and modifiers.
Weapons from the Rite of the Nine come in four categories: base, shiny base, Adept, and shiny Adept. Shiny variants are characterized by holographic ornaments and possess double perks. Remember that Adept weapons are exclusively obtainable from the Ultimatum difficulty level of dungeons.
To maximize loot opportunities during the Rite of the Nine, keep the following tips in mind:
- Acquire weapon quests from The Emissary for extra shiny variants.
- Exchange Nonary Manifolds at The Emissary for additional weapons, or conserve them until the event concludes, as a new redemption option will be available.
- On the weeks of June 10, July 1, and July 8, the Prophecy dungeon will feature increased weapon drop rates.
