Marvel Rivals Patch Notes for Season 2.5: Ultron, Hero Adjustments, and More

A new AI joins the lineup.

NetEase Games previously released a 13-minute Dev Vision Vol. 06 in May 2025, which provided most of the details. Now, the complete patch notes for Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 have been made public.

Ultron has been introduced as the new Strategist hero, along with numerous buffs and nerfs applied to several existing heroes. This update has also seen the removal of some Team-up Abilities to accommodate new additions.

Ultron (New Strategist Hero)

Ultron makes his debut in the game as a new Strategist with this mid-season update. His abilities include flight to enable aerial strategies, the summoning of drones, and the deployment of powerful energy beams for attacking foes and healing teammates.

Arakko (New Map)

The new map introduced in Season 2.5 is named Arakko.

      • Storm and Jeff’s ultimate powers combine to inflict damage over time, devour enemies, and then launch them.
  • Microchip
    • The Punisher and Black Widow
      • Black Widow’s rifle is now able to penetrate enemies.
  • Rocket Network
    • Rocket Raccoon and Peni Parker
      • Peni can now place an additional spider nest alongside her normal one. Rocket’s B.R.B. produces cyber webs and mines.

    • Iron Man and Ultron
      • Ultron now has a Uni-Beam laser that damages enemies while healing allies.
  • Symbiote Shenanigans
    • Venom and Jeff the Land Shark

Twitch Drops

With the launch of Season 2.5, a new wave of Twitch Drops is available. Simply watch the required amount of time to earn your rewards.

This round of drops features the Emma Frost – Will of Galacta costume along with related content, available from May 30 to June 27 at 9 AM UTC.

New Features and Changes

  • The Mood System is introduced, allowing players to add an icon to their Nameplate to convey their current state.
  • A new Emoji System lets players use bubble emojis in combat and the PLAY interface.
  • A Recommendation feature has been added to the team lobby to ensure players do not miss important information.
  • The layout of Nameplates has been updated for improved clarity and aesthetics.
  • The Hero Selection Wheel now showcases Lord avatars.
  • The Career System has been enhanced to display more custom content and statistics.
  • A new rank reward is available! Reach Gold to receive the costume Ultron – Golden Ultron, along with fresh Crests of Honor for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and Top 500.

Combat Chest

  • The Combat Chest is now available for a limited time!
  • Earn experience by taking part in matches to level up your Combat Chest and unlock milestone rewards.
  • The Combat Chest is filled with costumes, related content, Emojis, Mood icons, and other treasures.
  • Activate the Premium Combat Chest for enhanced rewards. This chest will remain available permanently, allowing players to claim rewards at their convenience.

Tournament Rooms & Custom Games

  • New functions for copying room names and passwords have been added.
  • A «Host Only» Move Permissions setting allows only the host to rearrange player positions.
  • During the ban/pick phase in Tournament Mode, a small icon will indicate the Captain making choices for both sides. Captains can right-click teammates to assign ban responsibilities.
  • Hosts now have an option to «Immediately End Match» in the ESC menu for matches initiated from Tournament Rooms. A confirmation prompt will be provided to end the match instantly.
  • An Auto-Select server node feature has been introduced in Tournament Rooms, automatically selecting the best node based on network conditions. Note that this feature is experimental.

Spectator System

  • New visibility toggle options for specific visual effects have been added. Spectators can now manage the visibility of character outlines, health bars, and names through spectator settings.
  • The free-cam spectator view now has a collision toggle, ensuring the camera adheres to collision rules and does not clip through scenery.

PC Updates

  • A new Performance Test feature has launched! Access it via Display – Settings to conduct a stress test on your GPU, CPU, and other hardware, helping you pinpoint performance issues.

Console Updates

  • The cursor in the pre-match hero selection screen now features improved snapping effects, which must be activated manually.

General Fixes for All Platforms

General

  • Addressed a bug where shortcut keys for sprays/emotes did not function upon the first launch; now, these shortcuts work immediately without needing to access the selection wheel.

Maps and Modes

  • Corrected multiple terrain issues that could cause characters to get stuck or clip into unusual areas.
  • Fixed various issues with broken collisions and floating objects.
  • Resolved multiple audio issues related to map sound effects.

Heroes

  • Flux Frequencies: Resolved a bug preventing Emma Frost’s Telepathic Pulse from maintaining energy when striking Groot’s walls, enhancing her attack power.
  • Webbed Wonders: Fixed an issue with Peni Parker’s webs where they exceeded expected healing limits.
  • Loki’s Layered Lunacy: Corrected multiple self-healing stacks from Loki and his illusions.
  • Strange’s Portal Puzzle: Addressed a glitch sending heroes to unexpected locations through Doctor Strange’s portals.
  • Punisher’s Phantom Focus: Fixed a bug marking enemies accidentally in the spawn room.
  • Tangled Webs: Resolved an issue with Peni Parker’s webs falling beneath the terrain at the start of a stage.
  • Vibranium Velocity: Corrected erratic behaviors in Black Panther’s Spirit Rend ability.
  • Panther’s Stealthy Surge: Addressed performance issues related to Black Panther’s Ultimate Ability under poor network conditions.
  • Cosmic Character Conundrum: Fixed an exploit allowing Adam Warlock to switch characters post-respawn improperly.

PC-Specific Fixes

  • Resolved screen distortion issues in the experimental «Switch Shader Compilation Mode.»

Console-Specific Fixes

  • Fixed button mapping issues on PS5 preventing remapping of the selection wheel.
  • Corrected scrolling malfunctions in the hero list interface with the right analog stick.
