In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there are numerous status effects to consider, some of which are more straightforward than others. Among these, marking enemies stands out as an effect that, when utilized effectively, can significantly increase the damage dealt to foes.
Understanding how to mark enemies and the benefits it provides is essential to mastering gameplay.
How To Mark Enemies In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
There are various ways to mark enemies based on your character’s build and the skills or Pictos equipped. Certain skills indicate «Applies Mark» with a red ‘X’, such as Marking Shot. Enemies hit by such skills will remain marked with a red ‘X’ until attacked again by a party member. Although skills must hit to apply the mark, Pictos offer additional flexibility for your character’s build.
Which Pictos/Lumina Apply Mark
The following Pictos or Lumina can either apply or help maintain the Mark status, enhancing your ability to utilize this effect without relying solely on skills.
What Does Being Marked Do In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
When an enemy is marked, the next successful attack against them deals 50% additional damage. This bonus can be combined with other percentage damage boosts from Pictos or Lumina, creating opportunities for devastating attacks from party members. However, any attack, including counterattacks, will remove the Marked status. Once marked, enemies will retain the status until hit, and marked targets will not lose this status automatically.
Your team members can also be marked; ensure to heal or buff a marked ally to prevent them from being taken down in a single strike.
It is always advisable to attack a marked enemy using your most powerful ability, even if that requires sacrificing a turn. Additional Pictos or Lumina can enhance the effects on marked enemies, making this one of the most dynamic and useful status effects available in the game.
