As the disparity continues to increase between Eastern and Western teams in League of Legends, FlyQuest’s jungler, Inspired, expressed his frustrations following his team’s unexpected defeat against Anyone’s Legend during MSI 2025.
In an interview with Sheep Esports, Inspired commented, «It’s challenging to see substantial improvement while playing in NA. You either aren’t getting disciplined for your choices, or you win team fights simply because the opponents struggle to manage their champions as proficiently as those in Asia. Sometimes, it feels discouraging to enhance my skills.»
In previous instances, various American League teams have attempted to travel to Asia for scrimmages with top-tier teams to better adapt to their intense gameplay, where a single error can decisively end a match. However, challenges like jetlag and rigid guidelines from Riot regarding roster changes have hindered these efforts.
Inspired highlighted that Asian teams exhibit superior champion control than their Western counterparts, challenging players to enhance their mechanics. With Western teams limited to facing Eastern teams exclusively during international tournaments, opportunities for growth through domestic competition are minimal.
Similar to other international competitions, MSI 2025 features just one representative from the West, FlyQuest, after they eliminated G2 Esports, while Movistar KOI was ousted by CFO. Although Europe had reigned as the region of optimism after G2’s historic MSI title in 2019, North America has shown better results in recent years.
FlyQuest now faces the daunting challenge of defeating another Chinese team, BLG, who recently lost to T1. The victor of this matchup will move closer to securing a spot in the MSI finals.
