In the chilling depths of the Care Center’s basement, players will find themselves alongside Grace, embarking on a harrowing quest to locate Emily while navigating the menacing shadows that lurk within. A crucial aspect of this journey in Resident Evil Requiem entails collecting three essential Joint Plugs, which serve as the key to escaping the nightmare.
Retrieving all three Joint Plugs requires players to backtrack through eerie corridors and dilapidated rooms. To help streamline your experience and prevent getting ensnared by lurking threats, here is a detailed guide outlining the most efficient route through this dark environment.
Finding the First Joint Plug
Initially, players will discover their first Joint Plug quite effortlessly. Progressing through the Furnace room, you will find yourselves in the Holding Cells. Simply move eastward to locate the first Joint Plug, which can be easily extracted from its socket with a quick press of the X button.
Acquiring the Second Joint Plug
With the first Joint Plug in hand, return to the Furnace room to find an empty socket positioned on the west wall at the top of some stairs. Insert the first plug here, then cautiously progress through the caverns leading to the workshop’s interior. For the moment, it’s best to overlook the forklift; instead, grab the Joint Plug situated directly in front of it. To escape, crouch and look opposite the forklift for a vent that leads into the Workshop. From there, stack boxes against the northeast wall to access the Holding Cells once again, setting the stage for locating the third Joint Plug.
Locating the Third Joint Plug
After retrieving the second Joint Plug, remember to collect the one left behind at the Furnace entrance. Proceed east from the Furnace room, taking a left up the hallway to place a Joint Plug at the back of the Boiler Room. This allows you to shift a box aside and enter without activating the hazardous electrified water.
Inside the Boiler Room, search the western room for the Square Socket Wrench resting in a red toolbox. Make your way back with caution, avoiding the perilous giant monster lurking nearby. Once ready, enter the south Furnace room and access the Collection Pool. Here, use the Square Socket Wrench to engage with the Power Distributor panel, inserting your two Joint Plugs to restore power. Continue along the linear path, crouching through a deactivated fan to access the Processing room.
Fetching the Forklift Key
It’s time to momentarily ignore the elusive third Joint Plug again. Instead, check the area to the right of the forklift for the Forklift Key. With this key in your possession, retrace your steps through the Collection Pool, collecting the two Joint Plugs along the way, and insert a Joint Plug back into the Workshop, northwest of the Holding Cells. Skillfully navigate the vents while dodging the large monster until you reach the forklift. Here, place the remaining Joint Plug in its slot to activate the lights and frighten off the monster, then use the Forklift Key to operate the forklift.
Crossing the Processing Room
Upon entering the Inspection room, players must manipulate the bodies with a lever to clear a path. Make your way through the gaps until you reach the halfway mark in the Inspection area, where you can shift a box aside. After backtracking to interact with the lever and turning it left, follow the path to the opposite side of the Processing room.
Before delving deeper, it’s advisable to utilize the typewriter on the left for a quick save. In the Processing room, you’ll encounter a wheel to drain the blood river below. Ascend the ladder, preparing for an intense sequence where the meat grinder activates. Players must skillfully run and dodge not only the grinder but also the zombies that awaken during the chaos. Eventually, the grinder will cease, giving you the opportunity to seize the third Joint Plug.
Making Your Escape
Finally, with all three Joint Plugs collected, return to the Processing area’s typewriter to crawl through the now inactive fan shaft, sliding down to the Collection Pool’s bottom. Move towards the elevator while also retrieving any missed Joint Plugs from the Inspection and Workshop rooms.
Once you’ve secured all three plugs, head back to the Holding Cells to insert them into their designated slots. When ready, pulling the left lever will trigger a cutscene, after which players must transport Grace to the elevator. To ascend, ensure you clear any obstacles along the way by repeatedly pressing X, successfully escaping the grim confines of the Basement.
