Every Class and Life in FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time and How to Access Them

FANTASY LIFE i revolves around mastering various jobs and classes, each offering unique strengths, playstyles, and rewards.

This guide covers everything you need to understand about the main gameplay elements in this delightful adventure RPG.

Overview of Classes and Jobs in FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

The classic Nintendo DS version featured a total of 12 Lives, while FANTASY LIFE i expands on this with 14 distinct «classes» available for leveling up, incorporating two new Lives.

Your journey begins with your character labeled as «Brand New,» which is the default Life. Starting out with just a stick, this particular Life serves as a tutorial for the rest of the classes you’ll master.

The Lives are divided into three categories: Combat, Gathering, and Crafting. Each category offers unique advantages and requires mastery of all three for a well-rounded experience. Here’s a closer look at each Life type:

  • Combat: Ideal for exploring the world.
  • Gathering: Useful for selling to merchants or sourcing materials for crafting.
  • Crafting: Utilizes the gathered resources to create new items.

Class Breakdown

Life Type of Life Equipment Playstyle
Paladin Combat Sword and Shield A balanced choice for beginners in combat.
Mercenary Combat Greatsword Offers a slower pace, requiring careful dodging.
Hunter Combat Bow and Arrow Engages enemies from a distance.
Magician Combat Staff A versatile fighter, best at distance due to low defense.
Miner Gathering Pickaxe Collects resources to enhance equipment.
Woodcutter Gathering Axe For the gathering of wood.
Angler Gathering Rod Focuses on fishing.
Cook Gathering Frying Pan Creates beneficial recipes for battle.
Blacksmith Crafting Hammer Transforms resources into various equipment.
Carpenter Crafting Saw Creates handy items, tools, and furniture.
Tailor Crafting Needle Designs outfits for aesthetics and stat enhancement.

Unlocking Lives

Only two Lives need to be unlocked: Artist and Farmer. The Artist becomes available in chapter five while the Farmer in chapter four.

No matter the Life you select initially, completing a tutorial quest is necessary. Once you’re established as a Fledgling in your first Life role, future tutorials can be skipped. To change Lives, visit the Guild and speak with the Master of your chosen Life, situated at various locations:

  • Cuna the Paladin: Guild Hall in Eternia Village
  • Marcen the Mercenary: Inn in Eternia Village
  • Arche the Hunter: Eternia Village

Optimal Starting Life

The aim of the game is to master all Lives, but choosing the starting point can be challenging. It’s advisable to concentrate on one Life until prompted to pursue a specific path in the story. Since crafting classes require numerous resources early on, starting with any Crafting Life is highly recommended.

Focus on foraging to gather a diverse array of items which can be sold for quick capital. These materials will also be essential for more advanced Lives, such as the Alchemist, that typically require various components.

Ultimately, you will be able to effectively manage multiple Lives. After obtaining a Life license, you can switch to the Life suited to your current activities.
