Elden Ring: Nightreign is the latest offering from FromSoftware, featuring multiplayer gameplay. Here’s what you need to know about its crossplay capabilities.
If you’re curious, Nightreign is an independent adventure that unfolds within the universe of Elden Ring. While much of the gameplay mechanics from the original title are incorporated, there are several alterations designed to provide players with a fresh experience.
Is there crossplay in Elden Ring: Nightreign?
Regrettably, Elden Ring: Nightreign does not support crossplay. Therefore, if you intended to play on PS5 alongside friends on different platforms (such as PC or Xbox), you won’t be able to do so.
However, Elden Ring: Nightreign does feature cross-generational support. This permits players on PlayStation 4 to join those on PlayStation 5, and likewise for Xbox One users teaming up with Xbox Series X/S players.
The game’s director, Junya Ishizaki, has confirmed these details, stating: «As with the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but no cross-platform play. Therefore, players on PS4 can connect with PS5 players, and Xbox One players can join Xbox Series S and X players, but inter-platform play will not be possible.»
Players on PC can only connect with fellow PC users. Available solely through Steam, there will be no cross-platform support for PC. The original Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC are also exclusive to Steam, utilizing Steamworks and its servers, which applies to Nightreign as well.
