Hunters Rise Again in Destiny 2: Exciting Buffs for Golden Gun and Moebius Quiver

In the world of Destiny 2, Hunters have often felt overshadowed, particularly since the introduction of The Edge of Fate, especially when it comes to high-level content. While some builds have shown promise, they haven’t quite matched the sheer power of Void Warlocks, whose grenade-launching capabilities have dominated. However, with the upcoming expansion titled Renegades, the Hunters are set to receive significant enhancements that could level the playing field.

Bungie recently unveiled a preview of ability tuning for Renegades, scheduled for release on December 2. This announcement hints at a wave of buffs aimed at various classes, with notable changes particularly favoring the Hunters. Although Titans will face a few nerfs in PvE, the overall landscape is shifting, granting Hunters much-needed attention.

For Solar Hunters, the anticipated return of a potent DPS meta is on the horizon, complemented by enhancements to key abilities. Each Super in the Hunter’s arsenal is experiencing damage increases, and the previously underutilized Acrobat’s Dodge is being reworked to have a more appealing cooldown.

Key enhancements for Solar Hunters include:

  • Golden Gun (Super): Damage against non-boss enemies will see a 15% increase, while boss damage will rise by 26%. Additionally, if fired within a Well of Radiance, the Golden Gun now benefits from increased damage without the need to step outside the well.

  • Blade Barrage (Super): This ability’s damage is boosted by 39% against combatants.

  • Solar Melee Abilities: These will inflict 50% more damage to weaker enemies and 36% more against stronger foes.

  • Acrobat’s Dodge: The cooldown has been reduced to match that of Gambler’s Dodge.

  • Gunpowder Gamble (aspect): Shooting the grenade while airborne increases its damage by 50% and introduces submunitions.

Void Hunters are also seeing substantial changes, particularly focused on their Supers. The intention is to make Deadfall the go-to choice for debuffing foes, while Moebius Quiver becomes a significant threat in damage output.

Important updates for Void Hunters are as follows:

  • Shadowshot: Deadfall (Super): Now tethers upon direct impact, with its weakening effect increasing from 30% to 35%.

  • Shadowshot: Moebius Quiver (Super): During its activation, damaging enemies enhances the power of subsequent Shadowshot attacks and bow weapon damage, with the final shot capable of doing up to 227% more damage. The duration has also extended from 10 to 16 seconds.

  • Smoke Bomb (melee): The lifetime of the bomb has increased from three to nine seconds, although the lingering smoke effect in PvP is reduced from five to two seconds.

Additional changes across the subclasses are also in play, with improvements like increased Frost Armor benefits on Stasis and new grapple mechanics allowing assists for teammates, even if they’re not utilizing the Strand subclass.

Other notable Hunter adjustments include improved energy regeneration for various Supers, reduced damage against players for some aspects, and expanded abilities for team support through grapple mechanics.

Meanwhile, for Warlocks, although they have enjoyed recent buffs, Renegades promises further enhancements, the most significant being the ability to deploy Rifts while in motion rather than being stationary.

For Titans, the upcoming changes revolve around some nerfs in PvE but also include potential benefits, such as reworks to the Sentinel Shield and adjustments to melee damage scaling. However, whether these changes will enhance their profiling remains to be seen.

In summary, the Renegades expansion is shaping up to be a game-changer for Hunters and will likely shift the balance across classes, reigniting enthusiasm among players and promising an invigorated gameplay experience. More changes are anticipated, making the future of Destiny 2 increasingly exciting.
