MSI 2025 Breaks Previous Viewership Records for League of Legends

MSI 2025 achieved the highest viewership of any Mid-Season Invitational thus far, thrilling fans of League of Legends with exciting matches as top teams from around the globe vied for victory in the year’s second international competition.

According to data from Esports Charts, MSI 2025 attracted a peak audience of 3.4 million viewers during the grand finals, shattering all previous records for the event. The prior record was held by MSI 2024, which saw a peak of 2.8 million viewers, reflecting a remarkable 21.4% rise in total viewership from the previous year.

The championship match featured powerhouse teams Gen.G and T1, resulting in an exhilarating five-match series that followed the Fearless Drafts. Gen.G maintained their undefeated streak and triumphed over T1 in the final match, while the tournament made history by having the highest number of best-of-five matches (nine) ever seen in a single League event.

T1, led by the renowned player Faker, remained a major draw for international fans during MSI 2025. The three most-watched matches of the tournament involved T1, highlighting both their extensive fanbase and their ability to set records.

Earlier in the competition, Gen.G eliminated T1 to progress to the lower bracket finals against Anybody’s Legends, where T1 managed an impressive upset over the last Chinese team to set up a rematch with Gen.G. In the finals, the teams were evenly matched until Gen.G showcased exceptional teamwork in the crucial final game, defending their MSI title and joining the ranks of SKT T1 and Royal Never Give Up as the only teams to win consecutive MSI championships.

Even though the North American timezone posed challenges for fans in the east wanting to watch live, the electrifying clash prompted many to forego sleep to witness these two titans compete for international supremacy at MSI 2025.

Looking ahead, the teams will soon move to Riyadh for the Esports World Cup 2025 before returning to their domestic Summer Splits, where they will strive to secure spots at the upcoming Worlds.
