The Definitive Ball x Pit Ranking List

Ball x Pit is an engaging game that significantly improves with each playthrough. As you progress, you’ll uncover various synergies and tactics, with the game’s upgrade mechanism encouraging players to frequently try out new ball combinations. After spending an extensive amount of time exploring its depths, I feel ready to evaluate the top balls in Ball x Pit.

As you venture further underground, you’ll discover that balls with area-of-effect capabilities are crucial, especially poison-based ones that deliver excellent results. Additionally, there are balls that apply effects, increasing the overall damage that enemies endure, making them exceptionally powerful in advanced gameplay. The 18 basic balls are ranked mainly based on the effectiveness of their evolutions.

S-Tier Balls

The top balls in Ball x Pit are capable of dealing substantial damage independently of other balls. Satan stands out as the prime choice, while Virus follows closely behind, excelling at area damage in crowded situations. Although Frozen Flame and Nuclear Bomb deliver slightly less immediate damage, they boost the damage enemies take from other balls, making them solid choices for maximizing overall damage output with other S-Tier Ball x Pit options.

A-Tier Balls

Radiation Beam is an outstanding support option, just like Leech, which can be effective in a Bleed-focused build. Generally, balls that are solely focused on inflicting damage without additional effects tend to be less effective, but Bomb defies this expectation with its impressive area damage and manageable cooldown. Both Noxious and Mosquito Swarm are also strong options, though opting for Virus and Mosquito King is often more beneficial.

B-Tier Balls

Poison ranks as one of the best basic balls in Ball x Pit due to the strength of its evolutions, so make sure to grab it when you can. Black Hole appears promising but proves to be situational and fails to justify its lengthy cooldown and intricate evolution requirements (it needs Sun, which must evolve itself). Sacrifice and Hemorrhage are viable options if you wish to pursue a Bleed-focused build, although some players may prefer a strategy centered around Burn.

C-Tier Balls

Laser (Horizontal) is the superior choice among the laser options, yet its upgrade path is relatively ineffective. The full-screen area damage from Flicker sounds appealing, but its output is insufficient for practical use, especially with alternatives like Sun and Flash available. Similarly, while the healing capabilities of Lovestruck might seem enticing initially, it lacks damage output. If you want healing benefits, targeting one of the Mosquito balls would be a more effective strategy.

D-Tier Balls

If you desire to obtain Satan, you will need Charm, which is regarded as one of the best balls in the game. However, its subsequent evolutions are rather unimpressive, particularly as this is the last of the basic balls you unlock (Charm is obtained after completing The Heavenly x Gates for the first time). Succubus and Wraith rank among the weakest evolutions available, with the latter providing minimal benefits when played as certain Ball x Pit characters and the former being outclassed by Incubus.
