Entering the Armory in The Outer Worlds 2

Fairfield, the initial significant settlement players encounter in The Outer Worlds 2, is filled with fascinating NPCs, various side quests, and hidden secrets–some of which are easily overlooked. One notable location within the game is the armory situated in the police station.

This armory features some valuable loot, but its standout item is the Shock Machine Gun–an excellent high fire-rate weapon available early in the game. This guide outlines how to access the armory in The Outer Worlds 2 and secure this powerful weapon for yourself.

How to Access the Armory in The Outer Worlds 2

Warden Sterling will assist you in reaching the armory.

Upon entering the police station, seek out Warden Sterling, who can be found within a prison cell. He is a charming, overly patriotic individual sporting a mustache and is humorously confined behind bars. Engage with him, and he will request a private conversation near the window of the prison.

Exit the police station and navigate around to reach the window to converse with Warden Sterling. He will provide insights about the armory and inform you that there is a way to access it from above. Unfortunately, he will not furnish you with additional directions, but the path is easily discoverable.

Climb the platforms to ascend the Sheriff Station.

To the right of the window, you will observe a series of platforms leading to the roof of the building. Ascend these platforms until you find an opening on the floor. Apart from the Shock Machine Gun, there isn’t much unique loot here, but be sure to grab the Defensive Plates from one of the tables, as it will unlock its crafting recipe.

After you access the armory’s door from within, you have three options. You can either walk past Troopers Murphy and Kemp and take all the loot for yourself, or engage in conversation with one of them and return everything you’ve collected from the armory, including the Shock Machine Gun. This action will enhance your reputation with Auntie’s Choice. Additionally, if you’ve allocated two points to the Speech skill, you can offer them x350 Bit Cartridges.

Effectiveness of the Shock Machine Gun in The Outer Worlds 2

The Shock Machine Gun has a magazine capacity of 100 rounds.

This weapon proves beneficial in certain situations and is among the most enjoyable early-game firearms. It features a magazine size of 100, making it ideal for efficiently taking down swarms of smaller foes. However, it may not be the best choice once you acquire the Chainspark Cannon from the Vox Relay boss, which comes furnished with superior modifications.

The Shock Machine Gun is less effective against Procterate’s automated bots and mech enemies, as many are resistant to electrical damage. Therefore, it shouldn’t be relied upon as your primary weapon while attempting to infiltrate most enemy camps in Eden.
