The enigmatic Black Night Kubo is not one to engage in battle lightly. This elusive bounty will only make an appearance under certain conditions. Players who acquire the Black Night Kubo bounty from the Red Crane Inn’s bounty board in the Teshio Ridge area may find themselves puzzled about his precise location. Even if players stumble upon the arena designated for Black Night Kubo, it does not guarantee his arrival for anyone seeking him out. To summon Black Night Kubo successfully in Ghost of Yotei, specific criteria must be met, which are detailed below.
How to Locate Black Night Kubo in Ghost of Yotei
Reasons Behind Black Night Kubo’s Non-Appearance
Black Night Kubo can be found in the Black Night Duel Ring situated within the Sentinel Forest. The Duel Ring is identifiable as a circular area surrounded by bamboo fencing. To navigate there, consult your map and head south, specifically between the markers labeled «Sentinel» and «Forest» when you zoom in.
Upon reaching the Black Night Duel Ring, you will encounter a corpse nearby alongside a pair of wooden blocks. However, simply clapping these wooden blocks will not yield any results initially. To trigger the appearance of Black Night Kubo, wearing black-dyed armor is essential, followed by clapping the blocks. The Nine Tail Armor, which is the easiest option to obtain, comes pre-dyed with Eyes in Smoke. You can acquire the Nine Tail Armor during «The Kitsune» main storyline quest in Teshio Ridge, so continue with this quest until you obtain it. Alternatively, if you prefer to dye existing armor, you can find the Black Dye Merchant located west of the Teshio River. Once equipped in black armor, clap the blocks to initiate a cutscene featuring Black Night Kubo, leading into a duel. If you emerge victorious against Atsu, the reward will be Black Night Kubo’s Mask.
