Like many role-playing games, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon incorporates a leveling system that affects the player’s abilities. This system resembles that of a Soulslike game more than that of the Elder Scrolls series, yet it maintains elements from both when it comes to gaining experience points (XP).
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon employs a combination of traditional and skill-based leveling, allowing players to earn XP by completing quests, defeating foes, and honing practical skills like cooking and block usage. This system offers a variety of methods to accumulate XP, and if you’re looking to maximize your gains, here are some techniques you might consider.
How to Quickly Level Up in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
If your goal is to gain skill points rather than enhance specific skills, the approach is straightforward: eliminate as many enemies as possible in the game world. However, since we’re focused on efficiently leveling up, merely wandering around Act 1 and engaging random enemies won’t suffice.
One of the most effective enemies to farm early is the Croakmaw, a large toad located in the swamp north of Horns Keep. Although it poses a significant threat, especially if you’re just beginning your adventure, you can easily defeat it using the Blood Transfusion spell–cast this spell to shoot projectiles that inflict Bleed. Repeatedly using it on the Croakmaw will eventually take it down, rewarding you with over 1,000 XP, along with bonuses for your Magic skill if you finish it off using Blood Transfusion.
To effectively farm the Croakmaw, set up your camp close to its spawn area. After resting for 24 hours, the Croakmaw should respawn once your rest is interrupted. This strategy can help you progress from level 2 to level 11 in approximately 15 minutes or less.
To enhance your XP collection during regular play, make sure to sprint, slide, evade, and dash while moving. This will help level up your Agility, Evasion, Athletics, and Sneak abilities, yielding more XP as these skills improve.
Alternative XP Farming Locations
If you’d prefer not to focus on the Croakmaw, you can grind regular enemies instead. A viable location for this is the Sunken Village (where you also need to repair the Gong for a quest), situated just north of Horns Keep. Head to the beach and activate the fast travel point there. The village is filled with Undead and Drowners that are relatively simple to defeat.
For additional XP, consider farming the Sunken Village at night. Wyrdspawn will spawn near the fast travel point after dark, providing more opportunities for XP and loot. While defeating the Croakmaw is generally quicker, if you’re already well-equipped and wish to gather different resources, clearing out populated areas like the Sunken Village, Abandoned Village, and Abandoned Stronghold can be a good alternative.
Remember, resting at camp will respawn enemies in the world. If they don’t reappear right away at night, try resting for 2-3 days.
