In an exciting development for competitive gaming enthusiasts, EA has unveiled the Battlefield REDSEC series, which will challenge squads of four in both Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes. This initiative marks a significant addition to the Battlefield competitive landscape, comprised of two distinct tiers: the Elite Series and the Open Series.
The Elite Series represents the pinnacle of competition, reserved for top-tier teams that receive direct invitations from EA. Meanwhile, the Open Series aims to be inclusive, allowing players from all skill levels within the community to participate, with the added incentive of qualifying for the Elite tier.
As the Elite Series prepares to kick off, it will feature a series of weekly cash cups spanning three regions: The Americas, EMEA, and APAC. In this inaugural series, EA has invited 50 captains from each region to form their teams, resulting in a robust participating pool of 600 competitors.
Teams will compete in a total of six Battle Royale matches, with the best eight from each region advancing to the elimination phase known as the Gauntlet. This setup will unfold over three qualifying days, where teams accumulate points based on their performance. The top 25 squads will progress to the regional finals, culminating in the Elite Series.
A unique aspect of the Gauntlet is its specific map and mode combinations, alongside an extended round timer, designed to heighten the competitive atmosphere. There’s also an impressive prize pool to motivate participants, totaling $1 million across regional finals and additional rewards for qualifying stages. Each qualifying day in the Americas boasts a prize of $50,000, while APAC and EMEA have $20,000 on offer, with substantial amounts earmarked for Gauntlet finalists.
Fans eager to catch the action can expect all qualifying matches to be streamed online, with Battlefield Studios taking the lead on the regional finals broadcasts. The schedule is already set, with the first qualifying day beginning on December 10, followed by qualifiers on December 11 and 16, and the finals taking place on December 18. Details on viewing options will be disclosed as the event dates approach.
In parallel, the Open Series allows wider community participation. Scoring will be based on the cumulative results from the top 10 Battle Royale and Gauntlet matches over the qualifying days. The top 250 teams from this series will earn spots in the finals, with the top eight securing a place in the next Elite Series.
While the Open Series features a total prize pool of $30,000 – with $10,000 available for the top squads from each region – the precise schedule is expected to be released closer to the first qualifying day starting on December 12. Upcoming dates include subsequent qualifiers on December 19 and January 9, culminating in the finals on January 17.
For those interested in joining the competition, the Open Series is organized through Repeat.gg, where players can register, form teams, and participate in tournaments using the platform’s app. Leading up to the competition, participants will receive a tournament code to enter into the game on event days.
As anticipation builds for the Battlefield REDSEC series, gamers and fans alike are poised for an intense season of competition.
